Rimmer
500,000 Baht robbery from Englishman’s home in East Pattaya PATTAYA:-- In the early hours of Thursday Morning, while Pattaya was under curfew, Banglamung Police were called to a house in the Nongprue area to deal with a break-in. The house owner, Mr. James Quinny aged 60 from England and his girlfriend, Khun Tippawan aged 45 had left their house at 7pm without realizing that a curfew was about to be enforced from 8pm. When the couple realized that bars were about to close they spent the evening at a friend’s house and eventually returned home at 1am to find the front door had been forced open and items had been stolen. tattoodrob
got 500k in cash and couldnt be bothered to get a 20k alarm or keep money in the bank instead!!!!.....strange ...... i keep nothing of value at home so if it ever happens to me then maybe i lose a tv and dvd but my alarm may scare them a little bit or maybe not!!! it always smells a little of some inside knowledge when large sums of cash are taken, is he a little keeniow with the wife, her brother need more whiskey or family up country putting the presure on. Sorry if im a bit cynical, maybe there is just a lot of farangs here that keep large amounts of cash regularly at home that the odds are good for robbers of hitting the jackpot. losworld
I would not leave this kind of cash around a home in Thailand no matter what... if its not a robber than it could be a maid, inlaw, gfriend, relative, whatever. Unless of course I specially designed an underground or hidden safe that nobody knows about except me.
GeorgeO
wasnt it 11500 pound sterling-? cannot understand taking pound notes at this bad exchange rate..... Perhaps he was taking advantage of the extremely poor exchange rate to build up some sterling reserves at low cost!
Sisaketmike
maybe a relative. inside job. Three times a' 500,000 is good money. For them a jackpot on two legs. Sad for the victim, but this could even happen in Mongolia.
