petercool
For a few minutes I watched local TV. I was appalled. These rioters were politely escorted to waiting bus', which were not overcrowded as the general population must endure daily. They waved "by by" hug hug, see you next time, smile smile, wave wave. I still can't believe it. Were they identified before escorted to the bus? The sight was sickening. And now the BIB are chasing after the ones that "escaped." How could they escape if the rioters locations were surrounded????? Another pathetic display of inefficiency IMO. Oh my achin back. You seem to know little about Thais and little about the facts. This was a promise made as part of the offer to normal protesters taking refuge in the temple nearby Rajprasong to ease the end of things. Details of those escorted to their buses were indeed recorded and noted and some isolated and some later being found to be in possession of loot. The police had enough to do but did this with compassion and will, when time and staffing permits, follow up on many incidents and individuals I am sure. asiawatcher
Human rights call for fair treatment of reds Human rights call for fair treatment of the victims of Thaksins illegal war on drug (mass murder summary justice no trials) Human rights call for fair treatment of the victims and their families regarding the Tak Bai massacre. Human rights call for fair treatment of the missing ( sadly presumed murdered) prominent Muslim lawyer. Human rights call for fair treatment of the victims of the looting, arson attacks and the disruption of life by the Red Shirts Come on you HUMAN RIGHTS GROUPS don't forget this is a two way street. You woolly minded 50 satang intellectuals insulated from the harsh realities of life really need to come down from your ivory towers and talk to the ordinary people whose lives have been dramatically altered by Thaksin and his paid thugs. As I recall you were not so vocal nor did Thaksin take note of your protests when he was committing crimes against the Thai people. Yes - fair treatment would be to ban Human Rights movements and a public flogging or better - burning - of the reds as an example not to do it again! Now that will get the blog humming... OzMick
why are they even letting anyone go home? they were all part of a illegal protest, they defied the orders to leave, they helped create the situation there is today, hence they should all be going to jail, not home. B4 going they have to register with police. No rush, plenty of time to catch up later.
cmsally
pornsasi's defence of the Reds not shooting soldiers (edited from people) on Black Saturday is more than likely correct. However by stating that the Black Goons led by Sae Dung took out the Army command post by murdering them would be more than likely very correct. Maybe you are right . But why would Sae Daeng do that if the regular army on the ground was not shooting at the reds ? I thought it was because of a vendetta started last Songkran protests (2009)

citizen33
Here are some photographs, allegedly from Wat Pathum. We've seen some already but not in any context. http://rajdumnern.ownforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=836 Are they genuine? Have photographs from different locations been juxtaposed in order to mislead? If not, this is strong stuff that won't play well in the villages. Edited May 21, 2010 by citizen33
