In case you havent noticed there are bombs around that area and one went off today. Do you really want more journos just so a few uber reds might believe the weapons were really there?

When some caches of weapons were found journos were present early on. Oh and even the BBC filmed the reds shooting. Add in Al Jazeera

It is truly sickening that some people are trying to present a violent group that has intimidated, nurdered and burnt as a peaceful hard done by protest group. Get over it they aint. Even if it shatters personally held biases. Even western media no longer present them as that. Apologising for a gorup that has this on its hands is vile.

And Im boit saying the government are wonderful but that is another matter. The rds had their cahnce to be apeaceful prtoest movement and opted for violence and murder. There is no going back from that

My point is not that I don't think it possible that the reds had all these guns. I am not saying they are wonderful. They committed some some crimes that they should probably be hung for.

It is that I don't believe a word that Suthep speaks and as for Spikey haired CSI lady, GT 2000 finished her off in my eyes. The only people that don't think Suthep and the other one have a credibility problem are themselves.

I find it convenient that all these weapons of mass destruction were found.

Has anyone wondered why they were not used?

Smells a bit fishy.

Dont be so stupid !!!!! who said the guns were not used? God give me strength against idiots like you.

The useful idiots and human shields (the peasants) were mostly only armed with homemade weapons, but the military wing (former soldiers) were armed to the teeth with automatic rifles and grenade launchers and there is plenty of evidence of this on film. It seems that the poor were used as cannon fodder by their leaders. :)

Not at all, there was a report of over 6,000 weapons stolen from a military base in southern thailand 2 days before the red shirts massed in Bangkok last month. I would assume some were used and the ones found were the remainder of the stockpile.

Unarmed Reds, Amnesty International decrying the treatment of the poor innocents - BS, pure BS. Armed militants who should be treated as enemy combatants, if shown to have participated in a violent way.

I am expecting AI to issue a retraction any moment now.

Don't hold your breath.

Perhaps the BB see will say something like "Thai authorities today unveiled a self inflicted weapons cache apparently"

Self-inflicted? :)

From the Rivers run through here somewhere? comes "campared to afganistan, the weapons on display are small in comparsion to the army's".

No idea what you're on about.

The True reds Started off By peaceful means, Then I think the hard line took the opportunity to cause mayhem, And some people just jumped on the Bandwagon because they like anarchy, I think the Thai government showed great restraint, There was never going to be any Winners.

Concern has been growing over rights abuses in Thailand, with the European Union the latest to call on Thai authorities to respect the rights of the protesters and saying the violence had harmed the nation.

Human Rights Watch has also expressed alarm over a "draconian" emergency decree introduced during the crisis to hold prisoners in secret detention.

Yes, right -- EU concerned, US concerned, HRW concerned, AI concerned... Come on guys, give the "nice red guys" hugs, a light smack on the wrist (uuuuhhhh, you have been a bad, bad boy) and send them back home with a smile.

Sarcasm, in case someone didn't notice...

It is very suspect that after a couple of days the government has a show for the press and other governments. Not having any press with them when they "found" this stuff (there were some willing I am sure) is just too much. The fact that a bunch of this stuff was all in the car park is also at best weird. I am not a red supporter but this smells bad. Why wasn't Pornthip w/her gt200 there when they let the people out of the temple?

I also have to think if ppl knew these things were there, they would have used them. Instead of just shooting firecrackers and bottle rockets.

[blind]

I have eyes, but cannot see.

[/blind]

I know you are blind, and I am like you and everyone else I have and assho!e and an opinion. I think blindness can be a strength instead of a handicap btw so there is some hope for us.

Again have you read about the gt200? they could have identified anyone walking past them who had contact with explosive compounds (for something like the last 2 months). They didn't use it? Why? They let bombers go then. There was no transpanecy with the finds. I just don't buy it. You can feel free to.

Are you a complete idiot? They were used..for two months...not only against the police and military, but against innocent civilians. The Red Shirts have been shooting M79 grenades almost daily. Have you not been reading or watching any news clips of the Red shirts using these weapons. Don't put comments on this site if you are completely ignorant of information that all of us have been reading and watching about daily for two months. On April 10th when the government first tried to disperse what were supposed to be peaceful red shirt demonstrators...thats when we all found out that they were armed to the teeth. A senior colonel was murdered and many other killed, including the Japanese news man. The Red Shirts shot m79 grenades into the crowd of local residents who were vocally demonstrating against the Red Shirts at Silom. The list goes on. We are just seeing the remains of the weapons not yet used and that they could not hide before the army arrived.

Holy moly. looks like we have our very own Al-Quaeda. What's next, training camps? Suicide bombers? Truly scary.

Remove the religious aspect and suicide bombers, and we already had this.

Remember Sae Daeng training grenade throwers publicly,

while threatening PAD with possibility of being attacked by angry persons...

and then of course they DID get attacked by grenades.

There have been cells trained all around north east Thailand,

as well as the indoctrination "Red Academies", this was an organized insurrection,

masquerading as a protest for democracy.... the front and shield.

'Puea Thai party to grill PM and four ministers; will nominate Chalerm as premier' http://bit.ly/cjvdis

Not only does the PTP support these red terrorists now they want to intall a person totally devoid of morals and principles as the next PM of Thailand.

They have no shame.

They have no chance. The coalition is firmly behind the PM. Puea Thai is useless.

I have a dream, or actually a nightmare: K. Chalerm as interim PM and his two, able sons as helpers. Please don't step on any's toes.

Yes, there is a possibilitiy that the weapons were planted in order to give army and police the moral high ground.

Car bombs and the like require someone to set them off. Now think about it would "Somnuk" really give up his life for Takki?

Thai thugs kill from the back of a motorbike or from ambush do you think they have the "stones" to commit suicide with a bomb?? :)

Why is it not possible that the reds had all those guns? Not only was there a 6,000 gun shipment stolen from the south 2 days before their arrival last month, but on the day (april 14th I beleive) there was an artical stating that one of the red shirt leaders said "we have support umong the military, 6,000 troups that we like to call the "watermelon army" because they wear green but have red hearts"

There is no proof of course that the red shirts stole the guns from the military base, but it is quite a strange occurance that the excact number of wepons stolen from a military base is the same number of supposed military supporters the red shirts had.

Amnesty International are a total disgrace.

Trashing their reputation.

The last two years (and we are not just talking about Thailand here) have been an embarrassment.

This is a stupid comment.......The fact is there were innocent women and children at the protest site and Amnesty were completely correct to point this out. An embarrassment??? Maybe from the Ultra Right point of view. Another fact is AI are all the world has against the wealthy aggressor wheather that be Thaksin, The Thai Army, the US or the UK marching around the world in persuit of WMD/OIL and POWER. Please! People are not idiots.....

Take a look in the mirror!

"Terrorists have used these weapons to attack officials and innocent people," said Suthep Thaugsuban, deputy prime minister in charge of security affairs, at an army barracks on the northern outskirts of the capital.
AFP journalists reporting at the protest zone for the past two months have seen only a handful of firearms in the hands of protesters, who were mostly armed only with crude weapons like rockets and Molotov cocktails.

So who do you believe?

Oh come on now. Give us a hard question.

This stuff was so hard to find it took them 3 days to get it out on the TV and the news? There have been hundreds of reporters around and around the site.

I don't care if the reds had them guns or not. But why can't the government raise it's credibility a little and call all the bloody journalists to come and see the guns in situ?

Perhaps because the guns were found in situ that was huge? Ok, let's do the dog-and-pony show, dragging hundreds of reporters along - at their own risk. Dr Pornthip stated that there were four (or was it six?) car bombs found. It doesn't make for good press if all the press are killed by simultaneous car bombs ... although...who would know? (sorry...)

TNN news last night showed a clip of a grunt turning everything over with a stick, looking for weapons. He would have been SOL if one of those cloths they showed had been rigged to blow up at his feet. And so would the photog, unless he had been using a rather long lens.

Besides, all these items had to be numbered and photographed for the investigations that are to come. It all takes time. There are simply not enough army photogs trained in this kind of forensic work.

Just guessing, of course...

Whatever the Government and Military come out with is GOSPEL.

Whoever questions any information being feed to us is a red shirt apologist terrorist..

It should be met with a jail sentence actually, burning tyres 7 years so I reckon questioning any official story should be 5 years... that is how we real democrats do thing...

:) If you were in to conspiracy theories, one could speculate that when that plane landed a few months back for re-fuelling. Why they picked Thailand and what those weapons of mass destruction could have done if for some strange reason they, (to make a conspiracy theory more interesting), covertly found their way into the hand’s of the Men In Black. :D

What has the GT200 used without success down-south to do with lots of weapons found at Ratchaprasong. Also keep in mind the Ratchaprasong area was 'guarded by the police at first. Lots of them somewhat sympathetic with the reds. K. Thaksin came out of their ranks, albeit with a wee bit more money.

I, myself, find it rather strange that the language used here is so, well, uh, American pre-Iraq invasion speech. Bandying about the phrase "weapons of mass destruction" and the word "terrorist(s)" as used by Abhisit, does not make this the "truth" by any means. We know that there were no "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq and, so it seems, many people in Thailand also know that there were no "weapons of mass destruction" in Bangkok. Language can be used for good or for ill. In the case of dealing with the protesters, it has been a sad use.

That's a good thing. The more conspicuous ly evil and corrupt they are the better. Unfortunately it will leave the door open for the banned TRT'ers to appear "moderate" by comparison when they return.
