hi everyone. im not starting this thread to start a "whose got the biggest <deleted>" thread. i just want to know what kind of wages someone can expect in office work. teaching - its well known what the pay scale is, but i work in advertising. since i can't ask my peers at work who are mainly all thai, i just wanted to gauge what was normal for business wages.

i have almost 6 years experience in my industry and get 40K per month. In bangkok by the way.

You make B40k a month. Thats good money for a Thai.

But as you know, in advertising its not easy to make good money unless you are brilliant or have a proven track record or manage to sign on with an international agency.

Why did you mention teaching?

i guess it's not really relevant, but i just meant as in its very transparent what teachers get paid, whereas i'm a bit clueless on what the going rate for businesses is here. i did some teaching while i was getting fixed up with my current job out here.

40k in the ad industry seems quite low.

how do u work in advertising when u don't speak thai or understand thai people/culture?

Dear Chunky1,

'Advertising' is not restricted to language...the whole game is about 'ideas', which can be translated into any language.

The answer is quite plain. if you've been working in your industry for six years and yo are only getting 40K baht per month, then you need to either change industries or put a bullet tin your head.
