I guess Thais use this machines while crafting wooden souvenirs...

Have seen tools for wood carving, but no burning or poker-work(?) machine

used to have it as a hobby tool in my home country

Does anybody know where to buy this machine?

Would be grateful for advice

Thank you!

(please don't advice to ask Thais or buy online... I will ask Thais as well and buy online if I don't find it here)

I have seen Thais using these small hand held rechargable butane torches for "scorching" their wood products at Baan Tawai. You can get then at Home Pro, or a lot of the local hardware shops.

not a bad idea...

still there are not so many hobby shops in CM... everything for hobbies is hidden and shared between strange shops selling other stuff. a good buisness idea, btw, to open hobby shop - for knitting, stitching, drawing, pottery, basket making, glass, wood burning, modeling, scrapbooking - all in 1 spot. i suppose you'll find target audience - and TA will find you.

still if someone have seen wood burning machine... please let know

Maybe if you post a picture of one of these custom wood burning machines we would know what you are talking about. I have also seen Thais using kerosene fuled blowlamps to "age" timber :)

I looked for one a few months ago, couldn;t even locate in BKK, ebay is probably your best bet or other online, then the import duty kicks in. A higher end soldering iron can stand in until you get the real thing.

My guess is that you are looking for something like this?

http://www.honest.com.cn/en/html/products/...p;bc=1&sc=8

http://cgi.ebay.in/HONEST-501-Jet-Flame-BU...G-/120575830271

The 501 jet is available in Chiang Mai for 550 baht

Similar bruners are available at the same shop priced between 350 and 1250 baht.

Go to the north east corner of the moat and turn left at the traffic light. (direction Kamthieng Flowermarket and tesco lotus) After less than 50 m you have a shop on your left with a lot of compressors (puma) just before a 7/11. Enter the shop, they are near the right wall, behind the glass in the back of the shop.

Nana Machine Part.Ltd.

3/1 Assadathon Rd. T. Sri Phun

A. Muang Chiang Mai 50200

053 219422 and 053 418349

http://www.nanascrew.com/

As the name of the site suggests, you can get almost any kind of screw, spring or tool at their shop.

The owner speaks a little English.

Nana Screw - best hardware shop in town IMO. If Nana don't have what you want, there are a couple of other shops worth a try on Ratchawong Rd just past the Esso/Tesco Lotus Express on the corner with Taiwang Rd.

Cheers,

Pikey.

That aint it, a wood burnig tool is like a more controllable soldering iron, with a variety of shaped and sized tips used for doing pyrography, burnig designs or drawings into wood, gourds or leather.

Ok, sorry I did not have a clue, I think I have a better idea now about how it looks.

May I suggest the OP to download a picture and show it to them (the shop). They may know where find or order it.

I will have a look again next time I'm there.

Well Nana screws is also my first stop for hardware, Axom (Spelling?) or OHS-QHS located on the Northwest side along the electronic mall strip. It's the large store in the third plaza driving east with traffic and is a good stop for electric parts - well at least before they modernized the store and cut there stock down on less common items. I say that because I saw wood burning irons, beside the ultrasonic cleaners, before there renovations.
