A well established producer of Cartoon Fun Maps is expanding the USA based enterprise to Thailand. Conceived as a geographically restricted advertising vehicle for the tourist, expatriate and local markets, the cartoon maps will be used to promote dining, shopping and entertainment venues using a graphically entertaining approach. Maps are to be given away at participating establishments, and feature caricatures of the advertiser's organisation and personnel. Further exposure is expected to be provided by hotels, travel agents and information booths.

A targeted approach will be used for each map to focus directly on a particular area that is of interest to inhabitants or visitors. Contests, games and puzzles will also help to provide awareness for local residents who will be able to win shopping spree vouchers for 100,000 baht worth of goods. Places on interest such as temples, monuments, parks, hospitals, embassies, police stations and train and bus stations will also feature prominently on the maps.

An investor is now being sought to help launch the first map for Thailand after months of preparation, research and development. Investment will be returned within 12 months and an annual return for the following five years at three percent of net profits is guaranteed. A partnership will also be considered if preferable to the investor.

Potential corporate advertisers include hotels, shopping malls, entertainment venues, chain stores, restaurants, banks and service stations. Neighbourhood publications in the pipeline will eventually provide a complete network covering Bangkok, with other cities in the kingdom also targeted for inclusion. The initial plan, however, is to produce four maps for the lower Sukhumvit, Silom, Siam Square and Khaosarn Road areas of the city. A minimum of 12 maps per year for Bangkok alone is the ultimate aim, along with a suitable amount, yet to be determined, for other prominent cities.

Additional products using the proven concept could then include a range of jigsaws, posters, restaurant placemats, peel and stick play mats, key chains, magnets and tee shirts, all making use of already existing artwork commissioned by existing advertisers.
