Sometime last year Thailand was added to the list of countries where you can have your UK Government Pension paid directly into a Thai Bank Account.

It can be done by e-mail. Just send a request to International queries of the - thepensionservice.gsi.gov.uk

They should have your details but will want details of your Bank Account. They will then phone you a few days later to check you are who you say you are and check your details.

Your Pension will then be paid directly into your Thai Bank. It actually arrives 4 days later but that includes the week end so not so bad.

The exchange rate (contrary to what has been said) is approximately the same as quoted here.

Works for me

Well done, I'm pleased it's working for you. Are there no bank charges for this? Remarkable. I'm surprised about the exchange rate, would have thought FXTransfers were cheaper. It's nice to have some good news on the forum for once.

Hi Dave

There are no Bank charges all the pension goes into the bank without any deductions.

I've had a Siam Commercial Bank account for years so am using that, realy can't advise on any particular bank maybe some do have bank charges, best ask before opening an account.
