Barin
Mini-pigs, which originated in Thailand, look like ordinary pigs but are only 30 cm long and weigh about 5 kg when fully grown. My friend wants to buy a couple of them (male and female) to breed them for sale in Russia. Where in Thailand can I buy them? How to bring them across the border? Can we have them shipped by airplane? Any advice will be appreciated. Edited June 4, 2010 by Barin

Crossy
I'd love to have a couple of these too, anyone got a lead on where to obtain? Something that size is less likely to be turned into sausages by wifeys (lovely) family
IsaanAussie
Right now I have twelve pigs at or about that size if anyone wants one, cant guarantee they will stay that small, borne yesterday. Just gagging.. Mine aren't stunted. I am fascinated by the antics of piglets, do these minatures stay like piglets? Or do they grow into individual adults just like we do? I have got to be honest, a pig is a pig, a barby doll is a barby doll. Teach me the difference anyone? For me, as TV member Fruity's handle states, "pigs treat us as equals" and being that small would always put you in control. Whereas with a 250 Kg sow its a bit like the large parrot that tells you "Polly want a cracker, NOW!" Isaanaussie
IsaanAussie
Hey Fruity, Can you imagine doing an internal at farrowing with a miniture pig sow in trouble. I doubt even your talented wife's smallest finger could manage that let alone your great ham fists.

NADTATIDA1
Expensive Hot dog then!.....i have not heard that they originated in Thailand i think micro pigs originated from some laboratory most probably:rolleyes: ,are you thinking of a Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pig? which are considerably larger? Also keeping the minitures as pets can lead to over-feeding thus them becoming larger and not so pet like...

Watching the animal planet a couple of days ago, they had a an American couple with a small pig ,that will not grow any bigger than 5 kilo,,they bought in the u.s from a specialist breeder, they say they paid 5000 u.s dollars for it. funny to watch as they let the pig sleep in there bed ,they say he is potty trained,,she walks around with it in her bag,and on a lead, heads were turning when she took it to a dog show, cute though not for me 5000 u.s dollars, but sorry do not know in Thailand
