Fake Farang Tourist Police

Just a warning that a farang is using a fake or stolen police ID to pass himself off as a volunteer policeman in order to gain access to rooms while the occupier is away in order to steal valuables. He works with a beach girl who passes the information on to him.

management often will, they dont realize volunteer police dont have that power, or maybe vtp do, Im not sure, but the lady will go with him and they will claim the guy stole something or owes her money sort of line

I am pretty sure they do not have the right. Certainly not without the real guys assistance.

Dreadful hotel management if they allow this sort of thing to occur.....I mean how long until a hotel owner gets suspicious and calls the BiB?

if the girl has gone with the tourist she knows his name and room and whats in it, many Thais will let anyone that claims to be a policeman do what they want because the legal system here basically is that police are the law

You are either a police hater, a troublemaker or someone that likes to post to see the reactions of others----or perhaps you've just got it in for cops en masse. Interesting. Presumably if the hotel takes her ID card while she is in the room they will have some record of it....or maybe they simply don't bother I guess.

Im not a member and never have been of any police organization, I have had a lot of problems with one particular person who was and is still operating as a police volunteer. Apart from that I have no dealings with the police and the ones I have meet thru this problem have been helpful and respectful. However I dont believe this guy should be doing what hes doing, his actions are unethical not to mention illegal. Until he is properly investigated my only option is to publicize his actions

I dont want to get into too much detail but this guy was working as a police volunteer but to their credit he has now been suspended because of what he was doing. He had to hand his police ID back in. However he is still using a police ID or copy to try to get into people rooms, mine being one, fortunately I warned the manager and altho he has tried twice he hasnt been let in. I believe the guy is short of cash as hes on overstay, so it think its only fair to warn others. I know he has used his ID in the past to enter rooms and extort money by threatening arrest. I believe the guy should be investigated.

Thanks for the details, just a few puntualizations, i can tell you that even 4 and 5 stars hotels will have no problem in letting a girl get the key of your room even if she have no idea of what your name is, without your presence or any previous aknowledgement being taken, so be prepared for it.

Have you seen the pictures abot that new super-hero doing the rounds on his scooter dressed as a policeman? he seems to fit your description but i can't find that thread anymore....

I am aware of a businessman with a business that shut his door recently that was volunteering as well, borrowed moneys from many "friends" and now seems to be missing (but being spotted eating at a local restaurant with a long beard and sunglasses recently), but he's about 30's and not 50's....

I saw the pictures and met the guy, funnily enough hes friends with the guy I have a problem with, he tells me volunteers do have the right to enter rooms if they suspect something. But as I said, I have dealt with a number of tourist police in this case and they were respectful and helpful and totally disagreed with this guys actions

well, my problem is this, the guy knows Im out of the country and he has twice tried to get the keys to my room by poking a police ID in my landlords face, if the police wanted to they could go interview my landlord, he may even have it on video, but I cant get any action from the police because Im out of the country and they wont look into it unless I go to the office in Pattaya and lodge a complaint, as much as the tourist police have been helpful I consider that to be negligent, and I know for a fact he has done this before with other people, I had thought it would end when he was suspended and made to hand his ID back but it hasnt slowed him down at all it would seem

Actually Rafval I believe (from yr past posts) your first encounter was when you were having a ST in the PS Guesthouse in Soi Yamoto (must have been ST because no one in their right mind wld actually live there?), so although I cannot condone what happened (and as u said the guy has been punished) it's very different than going into people's apartments etc which you've made us all believe.

Your latest comment that 'it's happened many times, believe me' worries me. Why do you think you know this and why do you care so much. My conclusion is that you must be possibly trying to perpetrate a similiar operation and this alleged other guy (or guy's) are stepping on your territory, so your posts are only vindictive or for your own immoral purposes.

There seems to be nothing to substantiate the facts like newspaper reports etc, so without this it should be considered a rumor.

Rather strange as what the guy is doing is highly illegal and should land him in trouble pretty quick if it is true.

As such we'd better close this thread...
