Pattaya link to Cumbrian Killer

PATTAYA: -- On Saturday as memorial services were held in Cumbria in the United Kingdom to mourn the loss of 12 people who were killed by Derrick Bird, a 52 year old Taxi Driver, on Wednesday, it has been revealed that Mr. Bird was a regular visitor to Pattaya. The information is currently being investigated by the UK Foreign Office as British Police are still trying to piece together information about Mr. Bird as they hunt for clues as to why he went on his killing spree. We know that Mr. Bird did stay at a popular Golf Bar and Guest House located in Soi Pattayaland 1 in South Pattaya,

What a stupid titillating news story.

Unless people suggest access to cheap sex is somehow relevant for turning Bird into a deranged mass murderer months later, and turned another notorious frequenter of Pattaya, Josef Fritzl, into a kidnapper and incestuous rapist.

Or is there something to this? Is the exploitation of sex in Pattaya somehow responsible for more than its defenders would like to think?

In answer to my own question, just read a story in Daily Telegraph (won't link it as I will get b*llocked as I am commenting on it):

Entitled "Cumbria gunman Derrick Bird 'dumped by Thai lover after sending £1,000', it suggests this was a contributory factor, which is ironic for Pattaya, the Brits seeking to blame Thais for a British domestic crime.

The report I read said he came to Thailand for the scuba diving...never knew there were any reefs around Pattayaland soi 1...will have to check it out on my next dive :)

Seems the guy had a lot of pent-up grievances, was being investigated by HM Customs and Revenue for tax irregularities, had long running disputes with fellow cabby's, was offloaded of a flight to Thailand and deported back to the UK last year, had dispute with his twin brother over his fathers will and no doubt sponsoring a Thai lass big time until he could afford no more, even seems to have had a grievance with a local dive instructor who had a lucky escape by being asleep when Bird came banging on his door last Wednesday morning.

I wonder if anyone has noticed an avatar that has stopped posting all of a sudden?

Well, unless he made the mistake in advance of believing Thai Visa's horrible new colours resembled other cheap Pattaya jizz sites, I reckon he would have been banned off here within hours.

The gutter press in the Uk are having a field day about this..... I was actually stuck at work in the middle of his rampage...... And knew two of the victims who died.

Was he broke? There are some rumours he had a decent 5 figure bank-balance - but which would have been wiped out by HMRC.

But he was scared of being jailed for tax evasion.
