PATTAYA: -- Late on Monday Night, Police Captain Tanoosin from the Chonburi Immigration Department located in Jomtien, conducted an undercover operation at the Hi-So Hotel located off the Pratamnuk Road in South Pattaya to catch a woman thought to be controlling teams of Eastern-European Prostitutes operating in the South Pattaya area. The target was Mrs. Kurshida Saidova aged 35 from Uzbekistan who was paid 12,000 Baht in marked bank notes to provide 4 Uzbekistani Prostitutes to an undercover operative.

they all had expired tourist visas on their passports. According to Thai law they should now be sent to the Immigration Detention Center in Bangkok to await deportation, however in the majority of these cases the women are later released to continue their illegal activities.

Not many people caught on overstay, especially along with additional charges, make it back out on the street!

They can pay a fine for prostitution without getting formally charged, but afaik, over-stayers get arrested, judged in court, fined and deported...

No not always.I know of 3 different cases were foreigners were arrested for different crimes who were all on overstays.They were never prosecuted or deported.
