Skytrain services reach over 500 million passenger trips

BANGKOK: -- Bangkok's skytrain services have already reached more than 500 million passenger trips this month.

The skytrain services reached 500 million passenger trips at 07:00 a.m. on 16 June, according to Dr. Anat Arbhabhirama, the Acting President for Business Operation of Bangkok Mass Transit System Co. (BTS), which runs the Bangkok's skytrain system.

Currently, the BTS's skytrain averagely provides 390,000 passenger trips a day, a 136 percent increase from 1999 when the system was firstly launched to serve Bangkok's commutors.

"We see the increase as our success in the short term", Dr. Anat told journalists here today.

"Our latest survey on January also found that the passengers are satisfied with our services in all areas, including service quality, safety, reliability and punctuality. They gave BTS 4.3 scores, from 5.0", he noted.

Bravor! but BTS is one of the expensive ticket charges compare with other Asean countries and stupid MRT in Sukumwit exit station long queue when passangers using only 3 exit doors, they should be 4-5 doors because it's consider a heavy traffic station.

Well ... I feel very pleased that I will have the oportunity to contribute a few hundred trips to the total when I'm next there.... I do however prefer the Subway.... :D

I'll take a bow ... :o
