Weekend Advice Please

Featured Replies

Hello, this is my first time in Thailand and also my first travel abroad, I am going to do a nonpaid internship and going to be in Bangkok for 2 months and it has been great and eye opening but I have had many bad experiences =( I have been ripped off by touts all over the city, telling me lies, taking me places I don’t want to go, charging me 3 times the price. I don’t talk to tuk tuk drivers anymore, I think I lost my innocence here. But the sites and the views and the food have been great.

I haven’t left the city and been having fun wandering around, but I would like to know more places, I would really appreciate if someone could recommend me some good places to visit for a weekend escapade and the best way to get there.

I have not a clear idea about the prices yet in some things that is why I don’t want to go to a travel agency,,

In my short experience every single guy who suddenly comes to you and friendly wants to help you find a place or has some advice is tricking you, on the other hand female thais have been really helpful.

Haggling is new to me, somehow I have get things worth 500 bahts for a 100 bahts and other amazing discounts but inside me I have a feeling they are still cheating me L

Sorry for the rant

the answer is: fly to Ulan Bator

If it's possible, take a bus from Bangkok to ANY city in Isaan and start your experiencess again. Speak with any resident foreigners you pass in the street/market and ask where to go and enjoy the REAL Thailand. No guarantee you won't get ripped off but at least you can chat with the locals and get an overall picture.

Good luck
