I have a small pond, approx 3m x 2m , 1 mtr depth. Its partly shaded with green shade cloth and I have a few plants and Lillies I took from some other ponds in the Area.

I have a few fish which I put in to test the water. I would like to intoduce some goldfish or maybe some ornamental carp when I'm sure the ponds ready to sustain them.

I made the mistake of intoducing some snails thinking they would keep the water clean and eat the detrius. These things grow to the size of a chicken egg and breed prolificly. They seem to be destroying the Lillies . I keep scooping them out , but its going to be a fulltime Job. Do I start again and empty the pond and clean out the snails or can I inroduce a type of fish that will eat the snail eggs and balance things out a bit. Or alternatlively alter the PH level and Kill them ?
