It just struck me as curious that the top prize on a regular basis should just be between 2-3 million Baht. I know that sometimes the prize can go as high as 10 million Baht. One would have thought that in a country as poor as this, the lottery would be a bigger seller than say in the UK! Whilst I know that the latter is wealthy country, the cost of ticket there is about 47 Baht but the return of say 470 million Baht or more is much higher. After all 2 million Baht might buy you a good car but not much more. I would like to know the ratio between profits and sales here. I am aware that sometimes the price of a ticket can be inflated by 20 B, and the supplier wants a cut too. Thoughts please.

In the west we call buying lottery tickets the stupid man's tax  - the one you have to line up for to pay.

Here I guess we could call it the lazy man's tax - the one that comes to you to pay.

This "Is the Prize too small in relation to tickets sold?" is like asking "Shouldn't my in-laws be returning my sin sod payment"?
