Do We Apply For A Tourist Visa Or Spouse Visa For Australia

Featured Replies

My Thai Wife Went to OZ In Feb For 1 Month, At the time we were not married, her sister & husband live in OZ ,both are Australian citizens. She applied again in April & was rejected.Reason -not sufficient doc's,& to soon after the last visit. We have been married for almost 2 months, her sister & husband will sponsor her. She will be travling to Oz by her self,i'm in Thailand,i'm a Australian citizen. What would be the best Visa to apply for. How much is Sufficient funds.

Appreciate your comments.

I seriously doubt that the S/C 115 visa would apply

to your wife. This is for permanent residency and is

usually for elderly people who want to immigrate

to Oz with a son or daughter. One of the conditions

is that you have no sons, daughter, parents other

than those in Australia.

Assuming your wife wants to visit Australia without you,

the most appropraite visa IMHO is S/C 679.

I was aware of that Will......

He is enquiring about a spouse visa as well as a tourist visa....obviously as he is staying in Thailand then he cant sponsor her for a spouse visa.....the family in Oz could sponsor for migration, but as far as I could find, that is the only visa that applies...albeit with a few conditions that she may or may not meet.

If she applies for a tourist visa then she merely needs an additional funds provider to ensure she has sufficient funds unless she has sufficient funds in her bank to cover the trip. thats why I linked the other thread which deals with that question.

Details in OP are scarce, but after reading it, you would, or I assume

he's talking about a tourist visa as he mentioned she had one before.

And by the look of it, she wants to visit again. And, the OP has said

he is staying in Thailand. He hasn't mentioned permanent residency

apart from mentioning the spouse visa which he thinks will probably

get her into Australia easier.

If the Embassy said "it's to soon after first visit and insuffiicient funds"

I state again, I think the S/C 679 is the way to go, followed by another

tourist visa.

It would help if the OP gave a few more details though.

I think the Tourist Visa would be the easiest , she going to visit family for about 2 months.Part of the reason she got rejected last time was due to insufficient Doc's not funds
