Facetime In Iphone 4

Featured Replies

Some things have emerged about FaceTime - the new video calling feature on the iPhone - that make it very interesting.

Apparently you don't need an account. You just FaceTime your contacts. There's some magic going on, it must be using your Phone number as ID, or maybe it connects the accounts with secret FaceTime accounts once you made a call once - now sure.

Seeing is believing though, look at this demo. This is extremely impressive:

John Gruber of Daringfireball thinks that FaceTime is actually a ploy to become entirely independent of mobile operators. A phone without a carrier:

BTW this is also a new reason you Jailbreak your phone. FaceTime over WiFi is cool, but how much cooler would it be over 3G. Obviously they don't allow that as for one thing, AT&T would throw a fit over lost call revenue, and on the other hand their network would melt down instantly under the load.

Well once there is a Jailbreak for iPhone 4, one of the already-existing Cydia apps makes the phone think it's on a WiFi connection when it's actually on 3G. So you'll be able to use FaceTime over 3G... yes!!
