More details please! Was the birth registered at the British Embassy in Bangkok and what kind of birth certificate does your son have? You will both need to sign to paperwork. I assume your wife is Thai and that you are legally married.

we ahve not done anything yet , my son has been registered on a thai birth cert only , we are not married that is booked for oct then the visa will follow that for her , i was just wondering if i can do my sons passport without going over to thailand as i would like this done before her visa application

How to register a birth from the British embassy includes details on how to obtain a first passport for the child, using form C2.

Your wife can do it without you being there, but she will need the required evidence of your British nationality; original documents, not photocopies.

N.B. Birth registration via the embassy is not compulsory; your child is still a British citizen if you don't do it. However, doing so has some advantages for the child; particularly if they should need evidence of their British nationality in later life.

BTW, I'm moving this to the Visas and migration to other countries forum where I feel you are likely to get more responses.

Since you are not married, did you personally go to the local Amphur (Thai district office) to register the birth and legitimize yourself as the father of the child? What visa application are you talking about? As for a passport for your son please see the link: How to register a birth, included above by '7by7'.
