Skype Phone In Uk To Thailand

Featured Replies

Can anyone explain how phoning to Thailand via UK based skype mobile works. Can people in Thailand have a normal mobile phone for it to be free or does it need to be a special skype phone.

People say that it is free but I am confused on how it works. Do you need to buy skype credit?

Thanks...slippery

Yes, computer to phone requires an account and payment. The Skype website has all the details. I've been using Skype for computer to computer video-cons for free for a long time. It works great. There are others who offer similar services.

Skype can also be downloaded to some mobile phones and if you have a good wifi connection the call quality is excellent.

I use Skype for computer to computer video calls ... free and computer to phone calls ... cheap.

Forget about whoever you are calling, let’s concentrate onwhat you need in the UK.

There are 2 accounts you need to worry about:

1) 1) The mobile service provider in the UK (eg. 3)

2) 2) The skype account

You can use your skype account with 3 and call any skypeuser for free (on skype).

However, if you want to make a call to a telephone, you needskype credits.

The best one I’ve found is to subscribe to monthly unlimitedskype service, which costs around 12USD for unlimited calls to any telephonearound the world. It’s cheaper if you only pick 1 country to call.

In a countries like Thailand, they don’t distinguish betweencalling a mobile and a landline number. But calling numbers in the UK, there isa difference between calling a mobile and landline, so skype has somerestrictions.

Also, when you use skype on 3, it doesn’t take away fromyour data quota.

I use Lingo, you can find it at www.lingo.com, It costs $24.00 per month in the US,It works like a normal telephone, you can not tel the difference from a land line, only you need an internet connection, At the $24 rate plan you have unlimited talk to most countries in the world. My wife calls her mom in Thailand every day, they both put their telephone on speaker and talk to each other for Hrs as they do their work. we love it!!!

Skype computer to mobile phone in Thailand works good. Just under 9 euros a month; talk for hours to the family there every day.

Is there something I misunderstand?

I just top up my account as it runs down. Sometimes don't use it for 2 months so no expense.

This is what i use and use it on my blackberry aswell so dont have to stay at home, its unlimited world tariff and allows calls to any thai mobile. A god send after my 1200 euro mobile bill :whistling:

There are different options for skype accounts.

Yes, there are prepaid skype accounts. (eg. buy $30 worth, use it until it runs out)

There are also skype accounts that have unlimited calling for a set fee per month.

I use skype A LOT on my mobile, and call multiple countries a few times a day, hence why I got the unlimited 12USD account.

If you're an occasional user, the prepaid credit account works just fine.
