i have pretty much got our application for a tourist visa to uk sorted.

i have tons of fotos, emails, old boarding tickets, relevant payslips and bank records,i have some western union records, but after a while gave my girlfriend a cashcard from uk to use in thailand and have statements from that showing me putting money in and her withdrawing it.

my only problem is i do not have a landline and have only ever had a pay as you go mobile, now i have top up vouchers dating back 6 months, will these be accepted as proof of fone calls?as there is no statement as such.plus with emails and fotos etc there is evidence of a relationship,i hope??

Sorry mate but I doubt they'll be accepted if there is no record of the number called and the date/time.

A mate of mine was buying phone cards and calling from a pay phone. His gf included them with her tourist visa application and the Australian embassy called her saying they wouldn't accept them as evidence because you could be calling anyone.

In the end he was able to extract text messages from his mobile and they accepted them and gave her the visa. Are you able to get any text messages from your phone? If the cards/vouchers are the same as they are here I presume you call a local number before the Thai number so you don't have a dialed number record in your mobile. If you call her direct maybe you can get those numbers out?

thats what i was worried about.

i was hoping the emails, msn chat logs etc would suffice.i have got loads of messages stored from what i have recieved from her,but my sent message box holds only 10.from her i have dated over 100 messages, problem is i dont know how to extract them.i have a crappy nokia 1202-2 fone.it looks like it has a connection to hook it up to a computer but it didnt come with one.

anyone no if you are able to extract the messages from a nokia 1202-2????

In all honesty if you have got lots of other evidence of proof of regular contact that should suffice, only I would explain the situation regarding your phone in the covering letter. It is not unusual to use a top up mobile via a calling card, include all your used calling cards in your application. I did this some years back with my wife's settlement visa and it was granted. Good luck !

The staff at the Embassy are quite used to the more up-to-date communications methods - the bank statements will be very strong proof of contact. We explained that calls were made using a cheap rate number (1p per minute!!!) and messenger. This did not seem to be a problem but if other aspects of the application are not clear cut it may make a difference.

No worries friend

I Had exactly the same problem in the US, I used Voip Number for my calls, and we mostly used MSN IP to communicate,, As others have also said a common problem,

,With the application I provided a cover letter explaining the situation, Also I gave them as many copies of our emails I had, and all the other evidence of relationship, They understood and the Visa was issued

Good Luck

I helped two friends with their wives settlement applications about three/four years ago and both of them had only used cheap pre paid phone cards to phone their wives in Thailand. They don't even show where you've phoned to, only that the cards have been used so I contacted the Embassy to ask their advice and they told me they were well aware of all the different 'cheap' options people used to phone Thailand from the UK. They advised to submit all the cards with a covering letter explaining the situation and they would consider them along with all the other evidence supplied. Both got their visas and neither were contacted by the Embassy for any more information.

So I think if your other supporting evidence is strong enough they will accept phone cards as likely proof that you also phoned regularly.

Good luck with the application.
