July 3, 201016 yr Hi all. Just purchased a nice wood carving but want to put it outside so need to weatherproof it. Bought some varnish/preservative at True Value but it is very glossy and sticky for days. Need something that will let the natural wood come through without making it look tacky - any ideas please?
July 3, 201016 yr I'd buy some tung oil and soak the wood with it/ It's a natural perservative. Also works well on bronze and brass! Good luck
July 3, 201016 yr Sadolin maybe? I've always found that to be very good for outside wood treatment. Arnold Judas Rimmer of Jupiter Mining Corporation Ship Red Dwarf
July 3, 201016 yr +1 for Sadolin, available at most Homepro, Homemart and any of the Builders merchants around town, good stuff and long lasting.
July 5, 201016 yr As an aside mate, if you are going to leave any wood outside ( except perhaps good teak ), beware of the Termite. Good local artisans mix anti-bug stuff into their preparations.
July 11, 201016 yr Author Sadolin maybe? I've always found that to be very good for outside wood treatment. hi guys, have tried homeworks, homepro and homemart. no body has sadolin, where did you see it last please
July 11, 201016 yr Half way down Theppasit driving to the beach, on the left hand side just by the junction where the cut through road comes from Sukhumvit is a big new paint shop with a giant Sadolin sign outside, also the hardware store at the end of Theppasit on the right before the junction has it, Jomtien Condo end.
