Hi

I have been living in Bangkok on a Non 'O' multiple entry visa going out every 90 days to renew the permission to stay period. By the end of the year my Visa will have expired. My question is whether it is possible to get another similar multiple entry one year Visa in the area or would I have to return to my home country (UK) to get one? I have seen Perth mentioned on the Forum - what about KL/Singapore etc ??

If this type of Visa is not possible what would be the next best option for a long stay other than applying for a retirement visa??

Very difficult to obtain multiple outside your own country

From the information provided you do not qualify for anything other than perhaps a tourist visa. If you study here you would have option of education visa/extensions. If you were married to a Thai you would have option to non immigrant O/extensions. If you have a work permit/job here would would have option of non immigrant B/extensions.

Perth will issue for visit to Thai with copy of ID card/address but no other Consulate closer than Hull is likely to do the same.

Thanks Lopburi3 for your advice and information. Sorry if this is a stupid question but what do you mean by ID Card/address - do you mean passport and proof of address in home country? Unfortunately I don't meet any of the other criteria you mention so I may have to consider either a visit to Perth or a retirement visa applicaion ( I am retired ) and perhaps the latter may be the simplest solution. I believe it is also possible to get an extention to a multi 'o' visa but not sure for what period of time I would be allowed to stay. Any further thoughts appreciated.

You can not extend such an entry for more than 7 days unless you opt for retirement - in which case it would be for one year. If you qualify for retirement extension of stay it would make sense. Over age 50 with 800k in bank account 2 months or 65k income/pension as on embassy letter or combination to meet 800k per year. You had not mentioned being over age 50.

In Perth/Hull they will issue a non immigrant multi entry visa if you present a copy of Thai ID card who you plan to visit/address.

If you are over age 50 you may be able to obtain a single entry non immigrant O visa from a consulate if you tell them you plan to extend for retirement from that entry.

He means ID Card and address of a Thai friend in Thailand.

You can extend a Non Imm o Visa for 12 months for retirement if you qualify financially.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);

(2) The applicant is 50 years of age or over;

(3) Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month; or

(4) Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than

800,000 Baht as shown in the bank account for the past 3 months at the filing date of the application. For the first year, the applicant should have that amount in his bank account for not less than 60 days or

(5) Annual income plus bank account deposit totaling not less

than Baht 800,000 as of the filing date of application

Thanks Lite Beer - your comments are very useful. I will definitely apply for an extention on the basis of retirement. From my reading of previous posts on this topic it appears that to do this in Thailand as an extention to an 'O' Visa I do not require a Police Report or Medical Certificate - just as you say the money in the Bank which I can organise. Not sure of the timing requirements - current 'O' Visa expires on 2 October 2010 although as I will do a Visa run just before that date I expect to have permission to stay for a further 90 days. However I guess it would be best not to take any chances and get the application in asap? Cheers and thanks again for all assistance.
