Bpai Maa, Go Come Back And Where

Featured Replies

Still trying to plan ahead.

I was wondering if, when I do a second entry on a double entry tourist visa if I actually need to enter another country before returning to TL?

I ask this because when I leave TL and go to NZ on a direct flight I get no stamp on my NZ passport either entering or leaving NZ so there is nothing on my passport to show I have entered another country before coming back to TL.

This got me thinking that if I went to say the friendship bridge to Lao, went through the departure process as per normal then crossed the road and re-entered TL as per normal, would there be a problem?

In theory I have left the country and re-entered as per required.

Now the where bit.

I have never been to the North East (Kanchanburi etc) and would like to have a look there so was wondering what border crossings were open to Burma in that area so I can combine the tourist thing and a border crossing for my second entry.

I see in the travel forum that there are crossing points in that area and was wondering if anyone had used any of them lately for visa purposes, how to get there, transport, problems etc.

A number of years ago, I tried that from Nong Khai, figuring the same. Once I was out of Thailand, what did it matter where I was, even if it happened to be limbo.

I crossed the road and gave the Thai Immigration Officer a good laugh. Back over and bus across the bridge.

First, I wouldn't say Kanchanaburi is anywhere "East". Try west. And you cannot now, and have never been able to, do a border run at Three Pagodas Pass.

You can cross by boat into Burma at Ranong, where there's a full immigration office. Also a good place to take off for one of the very pleasant small Andaman islands, such as Koh Phayam or little Koh Chang.

If you go and come back from NZ immigration knows were the airplane came, it didn't take off from BKK fly around a bit and then come back in .

If leaving and returning by air, you don't need to be stamped in at another country first. However, if you leave and re-enter by land border you MUST enter the other country first! It might be that the occasional officer doesn't check, but it is a requirement and they can send you back till you have entered and left another country.

It might even come back to haunt you later,if you don't , as when they notice at a later day they might still question you why you don't have an entry and exit stamp from another country.

Meant West but somehow typed East

Been the Ranong way and like Ko Chang, went on a boat to Victoria many years ago and didnt even get off the boat, they took the passports and money and did it all for you.

"I have never been to the North East (Kanchanburi etc)..."

"Meant West but somehow typed East"
