My family and I want to relocate to Thailand.

I've read many webpages on visas, but some questions remain:

1-

I've paid a visit to an international school with my wife, and there they said our children will get ED visas based on the enrollment in the school, and that as parents we would be granted O visas (for supporting dependents).

Is that true?

2-

I've read about the extension after 90 days and the 90-day reporting, but:

When the ED visas expire after a year, how are they renewed?

Same question for the O dependent visas?

Has anyone experienced that visas were not renewed without serious reason? i.e. the immigration office just saying "no"?

3-

re-entry, multiple and 90 day visa runs:

I'm very confused about these.

I understand that people on a single entry visa need a re-entry permit, all right.

BUT: if we obtain multiple visas, are we required to leave and re-enter every 90 days?

What about the 90 day reportings?

1. Yes, but 1 there can be only one depended per child and you will need 500,000 baht in a bank account in Thailand per parent.

2. You extend your permission to stay by visiting immigration every year with all the required documents. For the children that amounts to proof that they are still studying and for you that you have 500,000 baht per parent in a bank account in Thailand.

3. On a multiple entry visa you would need to leave the country every 90 days and can come right back for another stay of 90 days as long as the visa is valid. If you have a 1 year extension of stay from immigration, you don't need to leave the country. Instead you have to report your stay every 90 days while you are in Thailand, which can be done by mail. Also if you leave Thailand you will need to get a re-entry permit. Without a re-entry permit your permission to stay in Thailand would end and you would need a new visa and apply for a 1 year extension of stay all over again.

500k in bank account would be required for a one year extension of stay from Immigration and that would only be issued for one parent. You can attempt to use one child/one parent but could fail as it is not designed to allow free immigration.

To obtain the non immigrant O visa would likely only require proof of education visa for child but they would require 90 day exit or obtaining a new one every 90 days.
