im planning on moving to bangkok but currently living in phuket... i have a moterbike here a flatscreen tv and some other stuff what i want to take with me...

but first i have to find a house in bkk so im planning to go there and look together with some agencies because i cannot decide from here...

but it would save me allot of time and money to go back to phuket after i found a place and make arrangements for sending my stuff and go back 2 bkk again

but to send them now is also a bit difficult as i dont know where in bkk i will end up and how long it will take me to find a descent place so i don't know if it's a good idea to just send them...and i don't know if you can just store your stuff at the receiving point and i wouldn't want to take any chances

PS there is no one here that i trust enough to watch after my stuff and then later take it to the postoffice (or whatever)

my only option at this point is to store my stuff in my fathers place (hes not here now) and then as soon as i found a place come back, send everything, and go bkk again

and this kind of sucks 2

any help would be really great !!

I'm not quite sure what your problem is.

Why not keep all your belongings in your home in Phuket untill you find a place to live in Bkk after which you can ship them from door to door!

Sounds easy enough to me :)

Take everything with you and don't leave your belongings alone during the relocation, get a temporary small apartment for a month or whatever time you will need, there are literally gazillions of them in Bkk and cheap, for your own safety expect anyone handling your stuff to be a potential thief, good hunting!

I am pretty sure you will find a local guy in Phuket who can put your bike and other

items in the back of his truck, then drive them, and you, to Bangkok.

Check into a small hotel, with all your bits, until you find the house of your dreams. :D

Check out www.bangkokselfstorage.com, it might be the solution to your problem. They are located on Rama-4 and were very helpful when I used them several years ago for short term storage.

i would prefer to fly and have my things shipped... i guess there would be reliable shipping company's but still the problem is where to ship it all to..

anybody know if there is a trustworthy shipping company that also stores your stuff for a short period ?? and then as soon as i know my new adress ship it to me

Be careful, I vagely recall a thread from a while back where somebody sent something DHL only the DHL staff who handled his goods were operating a parasitic private concern from within the DHL office and using their paperwork.

I know you ain't gonna DHL your stuff but all I'm saying id be careful of "reputable" companies.

I know your problem, it's no fun arriving in a new place burdened down with all your worldly possessions but I don't see much choice unless you can find a shipper who'd be prepared to sit on the goods until you call them forward.

that would be my only option instead of storing my stuff here..

AA return and then drive up with stuff would do me. If no drive, AA return to sort digs, post everything and fly.

Probably considered a non-option by most. but it's an option nevertheless. As is evident by this thread, earthly possessions, once acquired, tend to become a pain in the a.. and cause a lot of worries. Give it away - problem solved.

:whistling: Store at your fathers place.

In the meantime, while in BKK, use taxi/cinema/internetcafe.

After daddy's return invite him to your new place and ask him if it wouldn't be too complicated to bring your stuff with him... :)

You can always try sending it Ror Sor Por. It's very cheap and will take about 30 days. When it finally does arrive in Bangkok they will send a notice to the address you shipped it to to come and pick it up at the wherehouse. It works basically like you want. Doubt it would work on the bike thought as it is too big unless you could break it down into pieces and box it up, but depending on the size of the TV it might be an option.

I shipped a bunch of stuff from Hat Yai to BKK about 8 years back this way and none of it was pilfered, although this being Thailand I couldn't guarantee you would have similar luck. Also, the boxes were beat to hel_l when they finally arrived, so do take care to pack it well if you go this route.

I don't really remember exactly where the wherehouse was now either. You would have to ask around. I think in Bangkok it was somewhere around the Din Daeng/Makasan area. No idea about Phuket.

I think the OP would be better off buying a motor-home. <_<

Or getting his Mummy to help "junior", I cant believe someone cant sort out this themselves!!!

These guys also say on their website that you can deposit stuff with them at their wherehouse for storage before shipping. Never used 'em so I don't know if they are any good or what kind of rates they charge.

Website is all in Thai unfortunately and I don't read fast enough or reliably enough to offer you any more information than that.

Best have a Thai call and find out what they can do for you.
