Hi,

I wonder if someone can give me a little advice on obtaining a one year Multiple entry Non Immigration O Visa.I obtained one in the UK last year, and it has just expired. When I got this Visa I explained that I was coming to Thailand to get Married to a Thai Woman, they were however not interessted in this fact in the slightest, after producing Bank Statements I was duly given my Visa.

I was under the impression that one of the requirements of this Visa was bringing in 40000 Baht per month, which I have done.I did not get Married to the original Lady,as with so many Issan Women she was far too focussed on money for my liking.Let me cut to the chase I would like to get a one year Visa ,I do not have enough cash readily available to purchase a retirement Visa ( I stuck most of my capital in a 5 year bond and if I try to withdraw it I will have heavy penalties to meet!!) Can any kind soul give me some options?

Obviously if I am unable to get a Non O I can keep nipping up to Ventiene every 60 days but I really would like to obtain a one year Visa.

Do not really understand the Isaan Lady and money comment but are you married to any Thai Lady?

If you are these are the requirements for a 12 month extension based on being married to a Thai Lady.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

If using income you need a letter from your Embassy as proof.

Another option would be a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa from KL 100,000 Baht in the bank needed.

If you are not married to a Thai Lady then Perth Australia or UK are the only options.

If not married but have a new Thai GF who will provide copy of ID card and letter you can likely obtain another visa in Brisbane or return to Hull. Most other Consulates will not issue such a visa prior to marriage. There is no requirement to bring in 40k per month for the visa (this is for extension of stay as above).

If you are a Brit then phone the nice people in Hull if you are in any doubt. They seem to regard it as their role in life to maximise the number of happy visa customers.

Based on having filled in the forms - Non-Immigrant O muti-entry - for the second year running and visited them last week, it seemed as though all you needed was a Thai friend you were visiting regularly and could self-certify that they would be your contact address in Thailand. No need for an invitation letter or bank statements as far as I could see.

I am married to a Thai now (she was only my girlfriend when I got one last year) so I was visiting family. I am also over 50. Therefore I did not go down the 'visiting Thai friend' route and cannot say 100% that the above is correct, so check it out with Hull. You have nothing to lose talking it through with them.

Under 7 hour flight and around 20,000 baht [paid Thai Airways 20,300 baht in March] 1 year '0' Visa in Perth Australia is very simple, phone/email before and you can pick up your passport the same day, Visa 225 $AU, They are open Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Just a thought, on your present '0' you know you can do a boarder run just before the end of the Visa to get another 90 days ? 1x year '0' gives almost 15 months in Thailand.
