Uninterruptable Power Supply Ups Software

Featured Replies

Just bought a cheap Liberta UPS from Lotus and as it doesn't come with any software, which I know some do. I wondered if there was any software I could download in order to monitor the UPS and shut down my PC in the event of a power cut.

Cheers

The ones with software managment come with a port to connect the UPS to your PC - usually a com port. If it has one, then you might be able to download from the web

Most rock-bottom UPS's don't have a com port or usb port, either of which is required to do what you've mentioned. However, if yours does have one, you'll then need to buy a serial cable or usb cable to connect it to your computer (most don't come with one).

If it's a UPS that uses standard protocols, windows XP can communicate with it directly (via the com port), and do what you ask. You can change the parameters in the power management configuration of XP.
