July 1, 200521 yr Need help..... met a wonderfull lady last December in a chat room. In may I travelled to Thailand and spent the month with her traveling throughout Thailand. She is now wanting to travel to the US and we are in a fog weather to try for a B-2 tourist visa and her chances or if we should apply for a K-1 Visa. We at this point are not looking to get married but need to spend time together in order to see if marriage is an option for us. The three months in the US together under a K-1 visa we both agree is not enough time to make that decision. Can anyone recomend a good Thai lawyer that can assist us in this maze. Also are the visa services any good and how do you find the right one. Thanks for any help Wayne
July 1, 200521 yr You have just stated K-1 is not applicable so if you plan to use that method it will be fraudulent and probably not a good way to start what may require further approvals from the same government authorities if it works out. Lawyers and visa services can only do what you can do yourself. She has to qualify for a visa and for a tourist that will mean strong reasons to return to Thailand at the end of a stay she can afford. So much will depend on her situation in life. A service or lawyer can point out the obvious (don't dress for a nightclub for an interview) but other than such advise they can not do much.

I have the same feelings about the K-1 visa and I understand how strong the reasons need for supporting her returning . What are the chances for the average Thai woman with a average income but with very strong family ties getting a tourist visa. And how involved is the paper work for a B-2 visa. Will she need legal assistance with any of the forms. Edited July 1, 200521 yr by Wayne

July 2, 200521 yr Download this document from the US Embassy Bangkok for several pages of law firms: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/services/visa...%20thailand.doc Sad that marriage is now more about lawyers rather than love and trust.
July 2, 200521 yr I agree....Go with the K-1 visa! the tourist visa is very difficult to get....She will have to prove that she has a reason for returning back to Thailand i.e. children, house, fair amount of money in the bank etc. K-1 is also a pain in the ass but will probably be easier in the long run, besides now she only needs to buy a one way air ticket, if she wants to return, Home Land Security will gladly arrange a flight..just let her over stay her visit! and it's compliments of George Bush! only a friendly joke. Seriously...the K-1 will take several months if not longer to get but easier. There is one other way that she could get a visa real easy is for you to you to marry her in Thailand, register it with the embassy and tell them you live in Thailand...maybe show them a rent reciept and she'll have a five year visa within two hours. No need for lawyers...you can do the same paperwork and save tons of money. It's easy...###### I did it! and there was a kid involved.

August 17, 200520 yr this attorney's US phone has been disconnected.....Is this someone trying to promote this attorney??? And why?
August 17, 200520 yr Don't waste your money on an attorney! you can do the entire process yourself...just ask the embassy a lot of questions...It's not that difficult!

There are many resources (forums) out there that are helpful. I did my wife's K-1 myself, started in July 2004.., my wife was approved the K-1 in January 2005 and this past Aug she received her US Green Card...and I am PROUD to say...all w/out an attorney. I have a friend that has spent over 6k in attorney fees for the same processes I have taken. His results were also the same as mine. FYI: I used these following websites for help/assistance: http://forums.delphiforums.com/ThaiFalang/start http://www.visajourney.com/ Edited August 17, 200520 yr by chivasgeo
