Okay here goes, I have a non b visa in my passport which is good until 2011, My contract ended this last month and I have now been finally told my work permit was cancelled the first week of this month. I called immigration to find out what I have to do now. They just said I have to go to a boarder and leave the country. The thing is I wanted to know if there would be an overstay fine and they said no because my work visa says 1/11.

I asked if I have to come into immigration to cancel my visa and they said no. (this would give me 7 days to leave the country. So I am wondering, I have a job interview coming this week, and hopefully more next week, do I have to go? should I trust the woman on the phone? Couldn't in reality I stay until the date in my passport and not have an issue?

I am really confused.

My employment ended but my visa says 1/11 as the date, no I don't think that is an extension of stay. But honestly, I don't know what an EoS is.

You have a permitted to stay stamp (the date you must leave Thailand) and that was either provided on entry with a visa and for 90 days or provided from Immigration and valid for one year. If an extension of stay you are on overstay from date your employment ended. If a 90 day visa entry it is valid until the date mentioned. In no case would a visa entry allow a stay until next year so you are either on an extension of stay that that is your permitted to stay until date or your reading the wrong place (a visa expiration date has nothing to do with how long you can stay).
