For those wondering just how much is involved, these two pics show the total sum of all connections required. (excuse the cell phone quality)

Note that the installation manual details the "twist and tape" method - soldering is not strictly necessary. The only reason I solder connections is for improved mechanical strength - so pressure on the wires won't make them come adrift. If you're careful not to pull on the wires while you work and re-fit the panels, and create a good, strong, tight twist there's no absolute need to solder, or risk melting your interior panels with a hot soldering iron ;)

Finally found the time to install the mirror control. I followed other guys suggestions and just cut and spliced the wires instead of removing the pins. The thing works as advertised and I'm happy with the end result for a very reasonable price and a bit of labor. The only comment I have on the installation instructions, although quite well presented, is the part about the white connector behind the kick panel. There are 7 :shock1: white connectors behind that panel

Took me a while to find the right one

Having previously spent more than 3 hours fitting the FITT mirror covers with the "entry light" feature (waayyy more involved than the mirror control install) I already knew the connector they needed to tap into, fortunately. The 2nd photo I posted above shows which one it is BTW ;)

Right you are, I should have gone to check your post, would have saved me some grief......

I mounted the buzzer on the wheel well with double sided tape, sounded fine when I tested it at home in the carport, but just got back from the shopping center (under ground parking) and with the ambient noise I couldn't hear it. No big drama, it is the mirror control that I was after anyway.

Fitted mine today to the PreRunner, after a postal delay due to the holidays. Easy to fit - if I can do it anyone can!

I also went for the cut'n'splice method rather than try to remove the pins - and the white wire is needed on a Toyota, although you have a choice of three wires to connect it to depending on what options you want. Personally I think they have gone overboard on the options available (why would anyone want their mirrors to extend only after pressing the unlock button three times?), but the buzzer is useful - I think "discreet" is the word. I was also glad that I could get rid of Toyota's really annoying auto interior light coming on when you turn off the engine rather than open the door.

The only hitch I had was with the programming, as it read as if you should turn the engine off and then turn the key three more times before making any settings, whereas it is three times in total - quickly solved with a phone call to Simply Cool, who would quite happily talk you through the whole process if need be. Excellent service.

Good to see another satisfied customer, and yes i agree with the options, too many my head was spinning....well done

Probably for compatability with their "Safe Entry" control box - the one that unlocks only the driver's door on first press, then the remaining doors on 2nd press.

In any case, congrats on getting it sorted :)

I have to say it again, but the documentation and presentation of the whole kit is easily the best I've seen from a Thai vendor, ever - it's one of the few "DIY" projects that's truly a DIY job.
