Does anyone know if Thailand has a separate tsunami alert system that is not part of the National Data Buoy System?

Because if the answer is no, then one has to wonder how seriously this threat is taken.

According to NDBS The single buoy covering Phuket has been out of service since April and from it's positioning looks of more use to Sri Lanka than Thailand.

That would be April 2009. Needs a new battery.

Why would you write that?

"Station 23401 went adrift on 06/04/2010 and is no longer providing water column or Tsunami Event data. It will be restored into service when it can be recovered and then worked into the Kingdom of Thailand's maintenance schedule."
