Report Cambodian Workers Flee Sisaket, Thailand Amid Border War Fears
Even more panicked a few years back when Thailand said it was going to clamp down on migrant workers who had not been processed through official channels. Thousands fled and Hun Sen had to send buses to the border to ferry the people home. On that occasion Thailand shot itself in the foot because businesses could not get Thais to to do the hard labour that Cambodians were paid peanuts to do. The building industry and horticulture were two of the worst affected. -

Report Police Raid Pattaya Walking Street to Stop Underage Labour and Laughing Gas Abuse
Picture courtesy of Daily News Authorities target human trafficking and laughing gas use, banning underage labour on Pattaya's Walking Street. On 16th June, under the leadership of top-ranking police officials, a coordinated enforcement operation targeted Pattaya’s renowned Walking Street. The efforts, involving local and immigration police along with social development officers, aimed to tackle human trafficking and activities endangering public safety. Brigadier General Songklod Krikkritya emphasised their mission to heighten awareness among nightclub operators about the risks of human trafficking. Businesses are strictly prohibited from employing anyone under 18, as this could facilitate exploitation, leading to severe legal consequences under anti-trafficking laws. Moreover, the authorities enforced a ban on entry for individuals under 20 and strictly prohibited weapons and drugs within these venues. A particular focus was placed on curbing the illicit sale of nitrous oxide, or 'laughing gas', increasingly prevalent and posing health risks. Despite the intense scrutiny, no significant issues were reported during the inspection, thanks to the ongoing stringent measures by local agencies. Continuous legal action and a comprehensive long-term strategy ensure the safety and integrity of the area. The public is encouraged to report any illegal activities to the hotline at 1191, operational 24/7. Picture courtesy of Daily News Adapted by ASEAN Now from [source] 2025-06-17 -

'Very insulted': Trump tells G7 members they've hurt Putin's feelings
U.S. President Donald Trump used a press conference with G7 chair Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to air Russia's grievances about being kicked out of what was then the G8 over the annexation of Crimea. Trump said, "Putin speaks to me; he doesn't speak to anybody else. He doesn't want to talk because he was very insulted when he got thrown out of the G8, as I would be, as you would be, as anybody would be. He was very insulted. And, I mean, he was thrown out by Trudeau, who convinced one or two people along with Obama.'' 'Very insulted': Trump tells G7 members they've hurt Putin's feelings Poor old Vladimir, bullied and expelled for invading Crimea. The horror!
