Allergy To Mosquito Bites?

ponder

Recommended Posts

I have benn in Thailand for five months. I have been bitten by mosquitos many times but recently, every time I get bitten, I seem to have a really bad (allergic?) reaction and end up on antibiotics.

I want to consult a specialist but I am not sure where to go. Most doctors just laugh and tell me not to get bitten but I am doing my best to avoisd bites already.

Anybody got any suggestions as to a good hospital for this type of problem?

Thanks.

Are you sure its antibiotics not antihistamine ? When I first came here I used to suffer from bad reactions from mossie bites. If I had one on my hand it would swell so much I could'nt close it. Happly they dont bother me much now. I do belive the enviroment the mossie lives in makes a differance, at my house I get bitten all the time, no reactions, mabye a bit of iching for a few minutes, but still if I go somewhere else I react much more, even if its only 10 km down the road.

I have the same problem, aparently there are over 300 different mossies, sometimes I get a small lump other times it can be the size of a tennis ball!!!!

Best thing I have found so far is some ibuprofen gel, it gets rid of the swelling and gives relief from the pain. (she goes out to buy it for me!!!!!)

You should always carry antihistimene, i have never really suffered from mossie bites, just the usual itching and small red bump but i find the ah works well along with calomine lotion or some savlon.

My wife has also said that when we stay with her family none of them get bitten, because they prefer farang blood!!!!!
