baht&sold
Eastwood actually sang in that one and is embarrased to this day (according to an interview I saw). How bout themes from: -The good, the bad and the ugly -Pink Panther both in my fav MP3 folder and both classics PS, Cat Ballou didn't make the cut Edited July 4, 2005 by bahtandsold
Thomas_Merton
One film I thought at the time of seeing had an unusual and very haunting theme, was the Aus*rali*n (it is correct to put asterisks in swear words, isn't it?) Peter Weir's film, "Picnic at Hanging Rock" - the first time George Zamfir's music was heard - before he went all sh*t and poppy. The film wasn't bad either. TRIPxCORE
Theme music from the Godfather is great. Also, I am a big fan of the music of Thomas Newman who has written movie scores for the following: Shawshank Redemption American Beauty Road to Perdition Meet Joe Black The Horse Whisperer Angels in America (TV Series) The Cinderella Man Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events Finding Nemo White Oleander Six Feet Under (TV Show) Truly a great talent that writes some beautiful and haunting music. Here's a few that come immediately to mind: - Any of the Beatles (e.g., Hard Days Night) - Any Elvis picture - Sound of Music - Mary Poppins - Dr. Zhivago (Lara's Theme) - Love Story - Wizard of Oz - Tommy - The Kids Are Alright - Woodstock - Coal Miner's Daughter - Rocky Horror Picture Show
kayo
Most James BOnd Themes For your eyes only stands out for me, as does live and let die. Pink Panther Henry Mancini. That song in Chasing Amy where Ben affleck runs after the girl in the parking lot outside the hockey game. Beautiful, though I have no idea what it is. My favourite theme tune to a film has got to be pulp fiction theme followed by kill bill theme If we are talking about theme tunes to tv series then the 2 that stand out are C.H.i.P.S and the A team

Gazza
Soundtrack inc. theme from "The Edge of Darkness" especially the incidental music during the computer hacking scene. It's the only time I'd actually sat on the edge of a seat watching something. Also, most of John Carpenters music from his films.

One I missed off my list ; music from 'Assault on Precinct 13' It's credited as John Carpenter, but all his films music is definately Tangerine Dreamish. In fact when I first heard the music from Precinct 13, I would have bet a grand it was T Dream.

Thomas_Merton
Clapton did quite a good theme for "Lethal Weapon 2" (or was it three) - the one that ends with "Knocking on heaven's door": a sort of crazy, hip, eeriness.

Gazza
Hitchcocks' 'The Birds' had a good soundtrack. I remember watching that as a kid scared the sh1t out of me I've seen it countless times and never realised that it didn't actually have any soundtrack at all. I only watched parts of his other films to see if I could spot him in the background somewhere. You can usually spot him playing a passerby early on in a film.
