I have a type -O marriage Visa. Stamp is good till Aug 30th.

Someone said by leaving the country I can get a 90 extension true or false

When does this need to be done. Say like in the last 30 days of the expiration date. Can this be done by going out at myanmar.

If I can't and have to get a new visa.

I know I need proof of income and usually get a certificate from the US embassy. But as I understand it I must then have it translated and sent off to Bangkok for them to check the signature.

What is the fee in Bangkok

Does anyone know of a place in Chiang Mai that offers the translation service and also the service of walking the certificate in at bangkok and returning it to me, by mail. Price of service would be helpful also. Thanks

Do you have a single or multi entry non immigrant O visa? Only if multi entry (valid one year) would you obtain a new 90 day stay for any entry prior to expiration of the visa itself.

For extension of stay an embassy letter of 40k per month would be required for Thai wife extension. There is no translation required if in English and the US does use English (although some might argue that point). The notary fee is $50. Am sure Chiang Mai Consulate also offers this service. You must appear in person for notary service.

If you are married to a thai woman whynot just go with her to immigration and have her sort it out for you. She should be able to get it done for you. When i was married my wife took care of all this for me. One of their main things they say they will do is take care of us so put it to use.

Thai wife extension requires proof of income or bank deposit for foreigner. It is not something the wife does alone.

Yes true but he wants to know what to do so who can go with him easier than his wife to sort it out. If he goes with his wife like I suggested she could do the talking and find out what is needed or required. These forums leave a lot to be desired in real life experiences.

An extension based on being marreid to a Thai always requires the Thai spouse to be present as wel for an interview and confirmation that the marriage is real.

Thanks for the replies. I have a multiple entry visa.

Last time I got an O visa in country they wanted the affidavate translated and sent to bangkok to verify the embassy notaries signature. Have things changed.

My wife is not so good at immigration stuff. its really better I do it myself.

The rules did not change and it is very uncommon that immigration asks for income statements from embasies to be certified by the foreign ministry.

What I am worried about is your statement about obtaining a visa inside Thailand. The leaving/return for a 90 day stay only applies to a Consulate issued non immigrant O visa allowing multi entry.

If you have an extension of stay (issued by Immigration) then you must apply for another extension of stay to remain; or obtain a new visa for entry (from a Consulate). If you do not have the funds paperwork a 60 day extension is available with same TM.7 and 1,900 baht from Immigration.

If you want to get an "income statement" for purposes of a one-year extension of a Non-O visa, and you are resident in Chiang Mai, just go to the U.S. Consulate in Chiang Mai, no need to have anything to do with the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.

And, no need to have anything translated from English to Thai or vice versa.
