July 28, 201016 yr Hi all, simple question. I'm a partner of a thai company (phuket island). It's a Limited Partnership. My company bank account is here in patong (kasikorn bank). Now, I'd like to know if it's possible to open another bank account in a kasikorn branch but in BKK (cuz I'll probably be there for long periods and I'd need to withdraw and send money from bkk). Any personal experience (or knowledge) about this situation? thanks in advance, IKO
July 28, 201016 yr Very Easy with Kbank, the company papers must be under 1 month old, a letter is also required requesting the account at that branch, check with your local branch, they should be able to tell you all of the documents that are required.
August 5, 201016 yr Understanding that you and your Thai partner have established a Limited Partnership in Patong and you have already establish a Partnership's bank account down in Patong. It should be noted that with a limited partnership, you would have a Thai individual as your Managing Partner (the authorized signatory for the limited partnership), while the ordinary partner (without authorization) will have limited liability. Therefore the only party that could sign in any legal binding documents on behalf of the limited partnership would be the Managing Partner. But when opening a bank account, should the limited partnership wishes to have the ordinary partner to be the signatory person for that specific bank account. This could be done via holding a Partners meeting and to produce a minute of meeting specifying that this ordinary partner shall be the signatory person for the designated bank account. This include the specifying of the name of the bank, the branch and the type of account that would be open. Please note that this authorization would only apply towards that bank account. Upon the opening of that bank account the Managing Partner is also required to be present at the bank for final confirmation and acknowledgement. There would be no restriction to establish another bank account in a different province. The documents required apart from the Affidavit, you would also need copies of the Managing Partner's ID Card and house registration and the minutes of the meeting to open a bank account in Bangkok (in this meeting it should clearly specify what bank, which branch, what type of the account that this limited partnership would be establishing. In the case if the ordinary partner (authorized signatory for the designated bank account) is a foreigner, the bank would also required to see the foreigner's work permit.
