Well that and the fact that Thailand's Farang orientated sex industry is dominated by Women from Isaan resulting in Farangs arriving in Thailand meeting almost only women who come from Isaan. If a Farang manages to expand his social life beyond 'The Water Trade' he increases his chances of meeting women who are not from Isaan - But that for many is a big IF. Actually the women who are promoted inner Thailand as beautiful, (you know the pale chicks on skin whitening adverts) for me are not as beautiful as some Isaan women I have seen................ ..................and more. And thank the heavens for that. Us westerners who like the golden skinned Issan ladies get all the beautiful castoffs that the Thai men don't want. Lucky for us. I have two pretty, Thai lady friends who sometimes visit me together. The darker girl is actually more attractive than her pale skinned friend, but when I hear them talking to each other they bring into conversation that the pale skin is more attractive and makes the pale skinned gal prettier. So, the colour of the skin is even discussed amongst the women themselves in a matter of fact manner. I don't understand the reasoning, but just accept what is common place in Thailand. By the way F1, just because some of the farang who come to Thailand get the wool pulled over their eyes and fall for the lies and BS of the kind of Thai women you IMO have a dislike of, do you think all Farang fall for the same BS.. I quite like the lies and BS, especially when they tell me what a 'hansum man' I am (by almost every Thai girl I meet). When my loveless marriage of 21 years came to an end, lost the house, cars and all my shares etc. Since I only paid for a large home, yet worked abroad, judge (female) said in court "Not really your home since you spend 7-8 months of the year out of the country/home". "Your home is your work". Kept my pension, luckily?? She kept £450,000 worth of assests (2003 valuation) When I met her, she was already seperated from her first husband. Working at putting bacon into plastic bags and living in a one room studio flat (Bedsit). Her standard of life changed overnight (Farang/Thai spring to mind) Decided to take position offered by the company, in Indonesia. Thought I would now do the 90 day, UK, tax rule. Looked around at KL, Singapore, Miri, Jakarta and Thailand. Thailand ticked all the boxes for tax, communications, infrastructure etc. Women............. Hated them all at the time, not interested. Started going out and were attracted to the femeninity of Thai women. Pleasantly suprised at how caring they were, even to strangers. Then 2007 BOOM? caught the eye of lady, a widow. Been together ever since, cannot fault her, makes me feel special, loved and appreciatted. Her circle of female friends has me shaking my head in disbelief when thinking back how my ex, her circle of friends behaved? Lived in Taiwan 1979, spent most of my Navy time out in the Far East. Prefer dark eyed, dark hair, golden/olive skin so much my UK ex could pass as an Italian/Spanish female with a slight tan. Thai females are a cut above the norm, in my eyes at least? Cannot fault my partner, she puts up with a hole host of things like a saint? Maybe it is just her and her race has nothing to do with it?? My ex told me she had won the pools when she met me. (pre lottery days) Should of seen all the little things. Sold my own home (no mortgage) she changed literary overnight?? Bought a house in joint names, atmosphere became so bad, told her I would not marry her unless the previous person she were came back?? She changed? Married it was daylight vanished. Only dark moods. Farang women can lie through their teeth, listening to her group getting pissed on their regular Thursday afternoon meetings were more of an eye opener than I have ever heard from Thai BG's (I can speak and understand Thai) Farang women do not have a halo over their heads nor the moral high ground. You have all the frailities and vices as other human beings. The thai girls call farangs "Hansum man" We know they are telling fibs, just as you know, when we say we love you, so are we. I will go back to the UK before long, or to another western country, in part because I miss being able to have a satisfying loving relationship. Just not my cup of tea, but I can see why others might like them. ANOther thread revealed just how many expats in Thailand were here because they couldn't cope with the women back home (Which of course they tell us was entirely the fault of the women back home) - Since you came to Thailand for work, I'm sure you understand your outlook and mindset is somewhat different from those who came here for the women ... sorry I meant for the 'Culture'. I was engaged to a 25 year old bar girl from Tampa Florida. She wasn't an ordinary bar girl she was different. She didn't mind that I had some unusual habits. I have a fear of falling out of bed at night when I sleep. I conquered this fear by sleeping with two women one on each side of the bed or three if I had an anxiety attack. I tried going to a psychiatrist but found the two lady sleeping regime cheaper than his bills and the medications he prescribed were interfering with my sex life anyway. Before the bar girl I had been married three times to interesting and genuinely nice women. I don't like really young women and had married all three when they were 25 years of age. The shrink said I may have an obsession with the number 25. I never had a problem with women from the west. I came to Thailand for a rest. I could cope with the women back home but the sheer volume of women was getting tiring. I lived in a clothing optional housing area outside of Tampa and the stimulation was getting a bit intense. I needed a break so I came to Thailand. I have told my girlfriend that I too have developed this fear of falling out of the bed. I said we must find another girl to sleep on the left side of me. The beds not massive so it really should be a petite young attractive woman. She wont snore and I wont be frightened if I wake up and see her beside me. Now of course it might not apply to you, but you know very well that the vast majority of Farangs living in Isaan came to be there via their Thai partners that they met in the 'Water Trade'.
