July 28, 201015 yr so i bought a one way flight from chicago to bangkok in september my question is that cool and i should be able to go through its with asiana airlines its has a stop over in seoul for 13 hours so i could hangout in the city out of the airport? im 18 and its my first time out of the country thanks
July 28, 201015 yr What kind of visa for Thailnd do you have or will have as they may not let you board without a return flight.
July 28, 201015 yr How long are you staying one tickets are usually more expensive than round trip, you could have bought a open ticket and made a return reservation when ready to return. You will need a tourist visa before you leave or the airline may not allow you on the flight.
July 28, 201015 yr So do you not plan on returning? As said, at least get a tourist visa or perhaps buy the cheapest flight out of Bangkok with Air Asia (online) within 30 days of entry or they might not let you board. It's down to the airline to fork out your return if immigration refuse you entry when on a one way and no visa. Was queried with this 10 years ago by airline so bound to be tighter now.

July 29, 201015 yr Obvious no plan. Wake up a bit and make at least a plan for going and coming. You should be able to get a tourist visa in Chicago at the consulate, google for location. A tourist visa is issued for 60 days and before the 60 days is up go to immigration in Thailand depending were you are located and get a 30 day extension for a total of 90 days. Do not wait until last min. there could be a holiday are various other reasons immigration could be closed. If not extended before expiration no extension and extension doesn't start until tourist visa expire so no loss of days. Figure out if you want to stay longer than 90 days and get a double entry that could give you 180 days. it's nice to fly by seat of pants but there are a few things you need to think about. There is a visa section on this forum that will answer all of your questions. At present tourist visas are free for the first some places are charging for second. Good luck on your trip but donot arrive clueless do a bit of reserch. have fun
July 29, 201015 yr It is very rare for many Embassies to issue a visa to a tourist who possess just a one way ticket. I assume you are an American. It says very clearly if you opeen the URL below (Number 7) that you need to have a return ticket to get a visa on arrival. I imagine the same rule apply if you apply at the Thai Consulate. Generally speaking, it is also a good idea to have a return ticket especially if you travel for the first time in case of running out of cash. http://www.thaichicago.net/clate/visa.html Goodluck. Max2010 Max many post on Thaivisa about travelling with a visa they will allow you to board with a one-way ticket. When you apply for a visa they donot ask for a copy of your tickets. I applied for a tourist visa in Feb. and no problem getting it without producing tickets. You donot get a visa on arrival if from the US you recieve a visa exempt stay stamp for 30 days at airport and 15 days at land crossing. You should not be allowed to board departing flight to Thailand if not in pocession of a round trip ticket or a valid visa. Edited July 29, 201015 yr by moe666
July 29, 201015 yr I just arrived on a one-way ticket. The airline did check for a visa, which they have done in the past. There was no need to show a plane ticket to get the visa. When you check in they check out something like this to see what is needed. http://www.delta.com...ation/index.jsp
July 30, 201015 yr Thank you Moe666 and Misterbean for your information. I guess I have never travelled with a one way ticket in my life and, the immigration and Embassy officials from many countries wanted to see my return ticket. Sorry, when I said visa on arrival, I meant a stamp on the passport like you kindly explained. Max2010

Even though they are supposed to be free, I had to pay a $10 service charge, It only took 1 day to get it. You can find the application for the Chicago office here http://www.thaichica...te/appform.html The form is identical to the one I filled out. They don't ask anything about departing flights.

Max2010 It does seem to differ depending on your nationality. I went to the Thai embassy in Taipei with my GF, both of us only with a single ticket. She was allowed a Tourist visa, but I was not, because as an Englishman, I was required to have a return ticket. I always wonder whether they actually check the ticket is valid, or I could just print off an old one with amended dates.... but I digress
