:o Here I come onlne again from Sa Kaeo! I read about TT&T via the man from Internet East Pacific Network in Sri Racha yesterday. He said that TT&T opens the high speed Internet for you at varying prices according to speed: 128/64 B800, 256/128 B1100 512/256 B1700 and they have a free ISP but it is very slow. Now I am wondering where their Maxnet fits into the scheme of things? Internet East suggests one signs up with them for the ISP part of the ADSL High Speed. I had been using TOT 1222 free ISP before here and it was from another century, so to speak. I am wondering if I install the ADSL from TT&T and use their free line that it would amount to the same dodgy Internet connection that I experienced before. Now how much is the Maxnet going to cost me and is it in addition to the ADSL hookup? Soon I'll drive the 220 k's return trip to Sa Kaeo and sign in, so prior information is greatly appreciated by me, as nobody speaks English there and my Khmer wife's Thai is strictly baby talk! I'm less than an expert so keep the replies simple.

I'm not fully sure what you're asking, but I'll give it a shot.

TT&T is now offering ADSL using Maxnet as the ISP. We're paying 760 for 512/256 in Korat.

What that gives you is a broadband, "always on" connection to the Internet. You don't have to dial up. You can use your telephone and the Internet connection at the same time.

Strange...

TT&T does not open your phoneline for adsl without taking a contract with one of their partnering ISP's.

You do not have to pay seperate for adsl and ISP, the ISP pays TT&T for the adsl line, you only pay an all-in price directly to your chosen ISP.

At the moment TT&T partners with following ISP's:

- Loxinfo

- Ji-net

- KSC

- Maxnet (which is TT&T themselves)

The latest is the cheapest at 790 Baht/month (+7%vat) for 512/256kbps.

Same deal here in Pattaya.

They had a promotion (don't know for how long) which included a free modem if you signed a contract for one year at price THB 790 + taxes.

Installation? As i already had TT&T on my home line they simply called me up after a couple of days and told me that I now could plug in the modem and start surfing :o

I think the rate swould be for as long as you sign for.

From Phuket Gazette:

TT&T introduces high-speed 'Max Net'

UBON RATCHATHANI: In an all-bells-and-whistles launch in this eastern Isarn city on July 1, telephone company TT&T went into the ISP business, with the introduction of a nationwide broadband service.

The launch included video conference link-ups with both Phuket and Chiang Mai, via the Internet, as a way to demonstrate what may be achieved with TT&T’s new system.

The company boasts that high-speed Internet access is now available for 1.5 million provincial fixed line telephone numbers nationwide.

“Max Net”, TT&T’s latest product, offers high-speed broadband Internet access at a 256/128kbps transfer rate for 590 baht a month, or a 512/256kbps transfer rate for 790 baht.

Suroj Lamsam, Senior Vice-President of TT&T’s Marketing and Service Group said, “Max Net provides unlimited use in terms of time, no [call] charges, and users can still make calls while online. This is a winning package.”

Until July 10, TT&T will be running a nationwide “Fast and Fun with Max Net” promotion.

“We hope that our 10-day campaign will attract 10,000 new users. On our very first day, we signed up 200 customers in Ubon Ratchathani,” K. Suroj said.

“TT&T foresees the continual growth of broadband and Internet businesses, so we are focusing on the development of signal channels and networks,” he added.

TT&T currently provides 50,000 ports for broadband users nationwide. It expects to have 100,000 ports by year-end and is aiming for 300,000 by 2007.

Prachuab Tantinon, President & CEO of TT&T said that whereas, in the past 13 years, the company had simply provided telephone services, now, “… TT&T wants to support learning via the Internet and, with Max Net, we aim to provide access that satisfies our customers.”

Just make sure you are within a close enough distance to the main switching station to receive adsl (we aren't :o)

Watch out for these promotions. I am a customer of Maxnet/TT&T, because they have a monopoly in my area. I have been cheated for more than one year by them. I received never more than 2/3 of the download rate I paid and pay for. Some of my complaints were even "deleted unread". The technicians blamed it on my modem, which was supplied by Maxnet, they came over checked the line and said "...everything okay here" and so on and so forth. Until I found out thet they cannot supply a stable line with 2.000Kbps/down, because the distance to the node is to far and therefore they have to much noise (measured in db, means electromagnetical interference) in the line. The faster the speed, the more unstable the line, if there is too much noise.

So please be warned and buy only the connectivity, which can delivererd stable over time. The best MAXNET/TT&T can do is cash in and do not admit anything to the customer. I hope I can find another house with a garden in an area where TRUE sells their DSL.
