Officers ordered to hunt down unrest instigators

BANGKOK (NNT) -- Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Security Affairs, Suthep Thaugsuban, has instructed intelligence units to monitor and hunt down people attempting to instigate violence in the society.

Speaking about the discovery of M79 bombs inside Government House compound, Mr Suthep assured that the currently implemented security measures could still keep the situation under control, but officers must be cautious and strict with their operation.

In regard to repeated occurrences of such incidents, the Deputy Prime Minister said that experts must be invited to help investigate the cases. He pledged that authorities would arrest and bring people triggering these incidents to justice.

Mr Suthep admitted that at present he could not supply reasons behind the efforts to instigate the unrest; however, he personally believed that terrors were incited by ill-intentioned people in an effort to discredit the Government and its operation.

The Deputy Prime Minister then dismissed the speculated connection between the violent incidents and the vacuum situation in the bureaucratic system caused by approaching shake-ups of government officials. He said however if any officials ignored their duties, such action would certainly backfire.
