Hua Hin, Koh Samet Or Pattaya... Whats Better?

Recommended Posts

Will be in Bangkok for business for 2 weeks later this month and want to have a break inbetween.

I am looking for a beach close to Bkk that take too long to get to.

I've done a little research online and Hua Hin, Koh Samet or Pattaya seem to be my best option.

Any advice on these places, or anywhere else would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mak.

Pattaya: Not advise for beach activity. Good night life entertaintment or just walk around enjoying food. Try Ibis pattaya for clean and good price.

Koh Samet: Very nice beach. Really white and smooth sand, clear water. Not much activity at night. Try sand sea resort or sai keaw beach resort. Both are in Hut sai keaw area.

Hua Hin: Not advie for beach activity. Some places to at noght time, but you do need a transportation as places to go are not in one central place. And most of them just open in the weekend. If you need tp get out of Bangkok, Huahin is not the place. It's too traffic. I dont see any relaxation in Huahin. Unless you stay at top world resort and just stay there without getting out from the resort.

do a search for Naklua or Jomtiem beach they are both only a B10 baht bus ride from Pattaya town, but cleaner beaches, fewer peddlers and more importantly the water is not near as polluted.

Hua Hin has all you need. Good hotels, cheap, medium or 5 star, good beaches, good restaurants, lots of girlie bars and nightlife open till 7am. Culture, mueseums, shopping and other attractions

I live in Hua Hin and am also a regular visitor to Koh Samet and would say it depends what you are looking for.

Hua Hin is a nice place however the beach is nothing special, on the other hand the nightlife is better than KS, plenty of resturants to choose from and if you are after girly bars plenty to choose from.

KS is actually my favourite place in Thailand, prestine beaches, clear water, not much nightlife but there are a few beach bars and a couple of nightclubs on the island

If you are looking for a nice relaxing few days of doing absolutley nothing then i would certainly reccomend KS, it's a great place to do that.

I think you're confusing Hua Hin with Cha Am, my friend. If not, reckon you never explored the main area behind the beach and perhaps hung around the main road. I suggest you pay a revisit and keep your eyes open when out and about.

From thailand-huahin

There are over 50 pubs and bars in Hua Hin. You will be spoilt for choice. Hua Hin nightlife is less intense than in Pattaya and more laid back. Most of the pubs and bars are beer bars type but there is also a number of family-friendly pubs and bars. Hua Hin at nights is a great place to relax and unwind. What is also great, that the Hua Hin pubs and bars are located within a small area, which will take around 5-10 minutes to cover. Soi's near pubs and bars are free from traffic and not too busy. In General Hua Hin is a clean and a nice place for families and individual tourists.

There is loads of nightlife in HH which absolutely doesn't require public transport as it is mostly in one place, behind the Hilton. Bars, live music venues, clubs and restaurants are also open nightly and Pattaya is 10 times as busy traffic wise. The beach is also really good for long walks. I'd advise HH every time for a short break as it's a world away from the likes of Pattaya and ott touristy, rip-off Samet.
