Best Sleeping Tabs For Flight Home?

In the U.K. they are a Class C drug so only legal to have if you have a Doctors note.

In Britain they are not available on prescription because of their abuse.

I'm trying to figure this out.

xanax (benzo.. anti anxiety drug but will put you to sleep easy enough)

klonopin (same chem fam as xanax but better for sleeping)

ambiem (real sleeping pill)

these are all prescription drugs. you can get them from some pharmacies here. In bangkok NANA area and especially some around suk 22 will sell them.. xanax is probably the more wider available of these. Dont drink a lot with them. A beer or two wont hurt. Having some of these in your shaving bag or whatever probably wouldn't cause you much grief especially if they are just in an unlabeled bag, but depending where your going you might not want to bring a lot, ie just enough for your flight.

It's really amazing reading this thread except for a few accurate posts. For everyone's info; AMBIEN, XANAX, VALIUM, DORMICUM etc are ILLEGAL to buy in a Thailand pharmacy with a doctor's prescription. Read it, learn it, know it. This is not the year 2000 when you could stroll into any pharmacy and buy a bottle of 1000 diazepams or Klonipins or whatever. Those days ended in 2001. No pharmacy will sell them to you without a script from a doctor. You can't even but anything with codeine in it as of 2003 so again; learn it, live it, know it. Anyone who says otherwise is completely uninformed and if they know an illegal pharmacy who sell any of that stuff without a script is breaking the law as is the pharmacy. Pharmacies don't risk their business by selling it to you. So get the misinformation out

Didn't we recently read something about a bloke taking something and ended up with a prison sentence.

to true , he changed flight in the middle east , emirates i think .

they found medication in his hand luggage , which they deemed illegal .

the poor sod , was detained and taken into custody .

p.s. the good news , only 3 weeks in clink .

can,t be fairer than that ....sweet dreams .

I once took 5 xanex for a flight home. They really did the trick as i was out like a light. I forgot however, that my flight was only 45mins to Phuket. I later fell asleep on the arrivals luggage belt, and went round and round for 3 days.

5 xanax? what a moron

I remember when I was in Hat Yai and I wanted to get some Ambien pills. I tried, but the pharmacies didn't know what they were. I told this to the Thai wife of the guy who owned the guest house I was in. She said she could get anything. Her husband assured me this was so. Off she went to her special pharmacy and came back with a load of pills. None of them were Ambien. She said the pharmacist couldn't give her Ambien without a prescription because it can be used as a rape drug.

The pills she gave me were all in Thai, so I thanked her and threw them out later. I've taken my share of drowsy drugs, and they do not make me sleep, they just ruin my flight/day.

When in Bangkok, I still wanted the pills for my flight, so I asked my wife about getting them. She invited me to talk to the doctor while she was in for some check-up. He wasn't familiar with the drug. By this time I knew they were called Stilnox and told him that. He got out his book of drugs and asked what dosage I normally take. I hadn't the foggiest idea. So he wrote a prescription for my wife (since I wasn't a registered patient) to get about ten of these pills. The instructions were, "Take one tablet", since neither he nor I knew the proper dosage. When my wife went to the hospital pharmacy, the pharmacist brought her over to tell her they were very strong and to be careful.

After leaving the hospital, I thought, "This is one of the reasons I like Thailand. You'd never get a doctor in the States to casually give you a prescription like that." Well, I was wrong. My wife was in seeing our doctor and prescribed Ambien so she could sleep. I asked the doctor if she could prescribe some for me as well for my long flights. She asked a few medical questions, then told me just to take my wife's.

Ive had many a good nights sleep on a plane with xanax, but they are very addictive, just take one for the flight after the meal and a couple of drinks, throw the rest away. You will want the rest when you get home, and its not good, anyone agree?

Yea, those totally knock me out

Dormicum - in any pharmacy store of your choice.

Surely you joke ?

This is my drug of choice, the last time I was in Bangkok the pharmacy who normally sells this told me it's no longer available.

It is the best sleeping tablet as it's very short acting and you recover from it very quickly although you might need a couple of doses, I just take 7.5mg each time I wake up on the flight.

To get some last time I had to register at a large private hospital, consult a doctor and even then she said it's a special list of medications from 'the ministry' and she could only prescribe me with 5 x 15 mg tablets. For me that's enough for 2 flights so that's good enough. I used 2.5 of these on the way back from Bangkok and will use the others on my flight from London to Bangkok in October, then I'll go back and get some more from the hospital.

Edit :

If anyone does know of a pharmacy who currently sells Dormicum since the 'crackdown' about a year ago I'd be interested to hear which one it is, please pm me the details. Thanks.

No it is you who is misinformed!I dont know when you last lived in Thailand but you clearly know very little about it now! These drugs are indeed VERY difficult to obtain ( in Pattaya anyway). I have tried to obtain Dormicum all over Pattaya and nowhere is it available outside a hospital, which is what I use.

It is difficult to defend such adv ignorant advice as yours when it is so clear that you are vastly misinformed!!!

Better you offer nothing IMHO if you dont know what you are talking about! BTW I actually DO live here and have done for over 20 years mow!

Bangkok will be a different situation to Pattaya, although I didn't mention it in my post I was tlaking about Bangkok.

You are correct though, my usual pharmacist told me back in March that he can't get hold of Dormicum anymore due to this new ministry of health decision, however he did say he might have some more in about three months. In the meantime the hospital will do me, I often get some of the usual blood tests done while I'm there as well so it's not a completely wasted trip just to get some tablets !

Yes, they are highly addictive.

Like you said, it's best not to take them regularly and save them for flights only.

Disagree,i use xanax only when i fly,and have no desire atall to use them when i'm not flying.
