Best Way To Go Bkk Airport During Rush Hour?

Featured Replies

I have to be at the airport at 18:45 tonight.. I was planning on taking a taxi at 17:45 but am a little worried about the traffic and dont want to sit in a taxi for ages

whats the best way? I'll be coming from Asoke sukhumvit to the new airport

thnx

Leave by taxi about 16:30.

Going to the airport from Rama 9 instead of SUK might be less congested so you could take the MRT to Phraram-9 station and from there a taxi.

Just a guess on my part and not really sure though.

That's what I do, though I walk around the corner and take a bus.

"Wife get the limousine" I find usually does the trick, get on the BTS to On Nut and sail down SUK 77 straight to the airport but you'll hav to leave a lot earlier than you plan.

Catch the free train.

I was told the airport link has started operation?

there should be a station at Makasan, and one at Ratchathewi. but please check on the ground info. I just heard through the grapevine :D

please also read this thread:

Take Asoke/Rachatapisek towards Rama IV. Do not take the Rama IV overpass; instead turn leftt onto Rama IV. Go to the light at Tesco, turning right. Take that past the Customs (one light), turning left onto expressway on ramp. Take expressway to the Bangna-Trat elevated. Take the Airport off ramp. Once you get on the expressway, there will be heavy traffic, but it will be mostly moving, as opposed to the outbound Rama IX expressway.

At that time of day, 17:45, you should make it not much more then 30 minutes or so. Problem is, any later and the time increases exponentially.

Yep. Catch the train from Makkasan station, just over Petchaburi from Asoke.

It takes 15 minutes from the station to the airport. Not sure where you are in Asoke ... cos a taxi down Asoke could take an hour in itself. If you're at the Sukhumvit end, catch the MRT from Suhkumvit to Asoke and then walk to Makkasan station.

I really hope that the OP did NOT follow your suggestion as Makkasan station (CAT) is NOT OPEN yet!

Repeat NOT OPEN. It will not open until full services commence on 23rd Aug! However, all other stations are open.

Also, during the trial period the service only operates for limited hours and only M-F which you should advise. As of this week those hours have been expanded to the following;

6am to 10am and 4pm to 9pm, still M-F only.

(When trails commenced in June services on Public Holidays were also excluded but I have no idea about operations for the next 2 days)

Pls check info before posting misleading info (Note the Airport Rail Link thread on the Airport Thread for further info)
