Hi,

I am over 50,I currently have a Non O multi based on marriage to a Thai lady, (my 4th). I would like to ask if it is possible to switch this to a "Retirement" visa, if so, whats needed and how do I do it ?

I have an income letter from the UK Embassy stating in excess of 800k per year, obviously because of the marriage based visa I have all those relevant docs too but need to know if there is anything else I need ?

I want to change so I dont have to keep leaving every 90 days.

Any advice and info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I know this isn't the answer to your question, but, if you're married to a Thai you don't have to leave the country every 90 days, just report to immigration.

I think what you are stating refers to an existing 1 yr "extension" not a Non O Visa which requires departure/re-entry every 90 days.

You have an option to use either retirement or marriage for your yearly extensions of stay from Immigration. As you meet the income requirements of 65k per month for retirement that would be the logical choice and easier. Basically you need to visit immigration during the last 30 days of any 90 day entry with 1,900 baht in cash and fill out a TM.7 form with a 4x6cm photo taken within the last six months and present that, passport/departure card (and copies) and the Embassy letter. Some proof of address and map should be available if asked. Using your wife/her home register and proof of marriage would likely work as well as any lease or mailings with your name. Once you do this you will have to only report your address to Immigration every 90 days and does not have to be done in person and can also be done by mail most places. If you travel you do need to have a re-entry permit to keep the stay alive so is a good idea to obtain one at same time as extension of stay for most people who might have to travel quickly.
