jazzbo
... Every time I read the trials and tribulations of those on the various Visa to/from Thailand sections, especially those trying to bring a Thai girl back to their home-country (fish-out-of-water syndrome), this song comes to mind ... the lyrics are not important other than ... I never will marry, I'll be no man's wife, I intend to stay single, for the rest of my life. (Traditional Irish Folk Song)

Same situation for me, almost every Farang I know here who is married, cheats on his wife with bargirls. Then again almost every Farang I know here who is married, married a Bargirl. Of course, none are ThaiVisa members, ThaiVisa members are special.
IanForbes
I don't regret getting married even though I did it twice. And, I never played around with other women when I was married. But, having raised two children to adulthood I see no need to raise another family. Having children is the prime reason for getting married. That stands true for both men and women. But, every person is different in their wants and wishes, so I'll never be the judge of others.

jazzbo
... If ever pressed I am always able to name an (apparently) successful farang and Thai marriage living overseas: Mr. Herb Simon and Ms. Porntip Bui Nakhirunkanok -- of course her being the former Miss Thailand and Miss Universe (1988) and his having a few billion dollars to throw around never does any harm. jazzbo
Levon Helm -- drummer and one of the lead singers of 'The Band' -- said he was often asked " Isn't it difficult to play drums and sing lead at the same time?" Levon would reply that 'No... actually it is easier' as you can fill in the vocal pauses with the drums... I will not elaborate but sometimes two at a time is actually easier. Without wishing to sound boring, there are some very good financial reasons for marrying your Thai partner - especially where the liklihood is that you will leave this mortal coil before them. That is what wills are for if you have anything worthwhile passing on to anyone. I'm not really concerned with what happens after I am dead. My two grown kids will get whatever I have after I'm gone. There are enough stories about old farang codgers who have married young Thai wives, and the wife has "helped" the old bugger INTO the next world a little sooner than he had planned. But, some guys just need a nanny to look after him and do his cooking and laundry. Some people stay married for no other reason than they enjoy bickering with each other. I know at least 3 or 4 couples like that. I can't imagine that any sex takes place, and they are always fighting over some ridiculous thing. But, they continue to stay married. My parents were like that for the final 30 yars of their 60 year marriage. Whatever floats your boat is okay with me. I'd rather stay single and have more sex and more freedom without hurting anyone else in the process. That is why I stay away from anymore serious relationships. I agree from experience. I had a Gf who had a BF on the side wow it relieved a lot of stressful situations. When she was upset she would take it out on the other guy and then she would come to me for release. Also i had 2 girlfriends at a time and it took pressure off of them. one i would play sports with which allowed the other to rest after a long night doing night exercises. If one was not into it i didnt get upset i would hold her and talk and listen then later ill go to the other who always needed it. So it works out. jazzbo
That is what wills are for if you have anything worthwhile passing on to anyone. Well this one had a will and so what ... but what a story about the 'H' in DHL: (Larry Lee) Hillblom's will stated that the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) would receive his estate, and did not specify any children in the 1982 will. There was no "disinheritance clause" in the will, which Hillblom thought was unnecessary since he did not recognize his illegitimate children.[3] After his death, his estate was the subject of lawsuits from children fathered across the Pacific. According to Saipan law, illegitimate children born after a will has been drawn up are entitled to make a claim on the estate. Girls from several Asian and Pacific countries made claims that he was the father of their children. They stated that Hillblom had visited bars in Micronesia and the Philippines, offering virginal girls money in exchange for sex. Most of the attorneys in Saipan became involved in the case, according to one Saipan attorney. However, since Hillblom's body wasn't recovered in the crash, there was no DNA that could be used to determine paternity. Mysteriously, his house in Saipan was discovered to have been wiped clean. The sinks had been scrubbed with muriatic acid, and toothbrushes, combs, hairbrushes and clothes were found buried in the backyard, making them useless for DNA testing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Hillblom
