It does not have a " horrific reputation" as you suggest. Not at all. Maybe for those men who hang out all the time around Soi Buakhao and the like but that's just a tiny part of Pattaya, soon to be gone, alas. My very respectable family have started coming here to visit me and they love it. My elderly; Catholic; ultra respectable sisters in their 70s and 80s would not recognise the place you're talking about. I'm sorry to disabuse you of the notion you hold of Pattaya.
