Bus Damaged in Ayutthaya Stone Attack

A new case of stone attack on a moving vehicle on public highway has resurfaced in Ayutthaya after such a crime has faded away for months.

A bus carrying 30 passengers was damaged in a stone attack on Ban Run-Ayutthaya Road in Ban Run subdistrict in Ayutthaya. The bus belongs to Western Digital Company.

The bus driver, Bunchoke Narongrit, told the police that a convoy of seven buses took the company's employees from Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate and were heading to Ang Thong's Pamoke district.

He said two men on a motorcycle threw a stone at the bus in front of his bus on Ayutthya-Bangpa-in Road, causing a slight damage to the vehicle. The same group of attackers then caught up with his bus and hurled stones at the vehicle.

The stones, hurled by the pillion rider, hit the windshield, leaving two holes. Fortunately, he managed to safely park the vehicle and no passenger was injured in the incident, except himself.

He suffered slight injuries on his face caused by shards from the broken windshield.

The stone-throwing attack had once been a common occurrence on tran-provincial roads. Many vehicles were damaged in the attacks, including the van in which Thai rap star Joey Boy was traveling in.

Chief of Ayutthaya police station, Police Colonel Sombat Choochaiya, has ordered his subordinates to track down the attackers. Checkpoints have been set up in many areas to keep an eye out for and inspect dubious motorcycle riders.
