Alternative Ways For Getting Tourist Visa Extension After 60 Days Stay For Indian Nationals

Featured Replies

Hello Thai Visa Expert

Kindly help me out with the answer for my question.

I am an indian national I obtained a single entry tourist visa for Thailand in my country which is valid till Sep18th. I arrived here on 24thJune2010 and got stay permit up to Aug 22nd almost 60 days stay.

Today I went to the immigration and asked for the visa extension they said I can take only for 7 days and I obtained that. My question is, is there any alternate way to get a visa extension for longer period may be 2-3 months without going back to India or may be if I visit Cambodia or Laos then come back to thailand again after 2-3 days how many days I can stay here more.

Please reply me asap.

Believe you should have gotten a 30 day extension instead of a 7 day extension.

Given the period you want to stay you will have to leave Thailand and apply for a new visa abroad. That doesn't have to be in India.

If they will issue is up to the consulate and they might want to see additional documents to make sure you are not working. You will also need to be aware of the visa requirements for the country you will apply in.

India used to only get a 30 day entry on a tourist visa and could extend one time for a total of 60 days. Believe this has changed to a 60 day entry with no extension. Also believe VOA is still available for 15 day stay.

Hi Thanks for your posting

For Indian passports its 60 days entry now instead of 30 and we can take extension only for 7 days. I just want to know if anyone have anyone has answer for this, if I go to LAOS or CAMBODIA and apply a thailand visa there how many days I can stay in thailand then?

A new tourist visa will allow you to stay for another 60 days, in Vientiane (Laos) you might be able to obtain a double entry tourist visa (2 times 60 days, after the first 60 days you leave the country and re-enter for the second 60 days).

Do not go to Malaysia.

They scrapped VOA for Indian nationals a couple of days ago.

unless if you got any important reason like Medical, chances to get extension.... I should not suggest this, but a letter from Doctor saying that you can't fly will get Visa extensions ... (it worked for my Indian friend before for 15 days).

Don't go to Lao or Cambodia or anywhere... Indians will get Thai Visa only in India or VOA at Thailand airport...
