Hi Guys,

Can you help me clear up this point please.

When I go to Laos for my Immigration O visa (based on retirement)it has been suggested by someone I know that, I would need a letter from the bank showing 800,000 baht in my account, I thought the letter was only required at the extension stage, I thought a photo copy of an updated page from my bank book(along with the original) would suffice.

Who is right ???

Thanks guys :wai:

Although it would not hurt to have an account to show it is not normally required for a single entry non immigrant O visa and there should never be a need for bank letter at that stage. But if you already meet the requirements there is no need to exit the country to obtain the visa as a conversion can be made at Immigration for an extra 2,000 baht fee.

Hi Lopburi3,

We have spoken (many times) on related subjects, My money will not be ready until 24th September, my visa runs out 1st September, I have just returned from a weekend break in Pattaya, I was told by a visa agent (trips to Cambodia) that they could get my imm O done now in Pattaya (for a price) which would save me going to Lao for the imm O, I was advised by a few friends that the immigration officer in Nong Khai would not look kindly on me doing this (on my 90 day report in Nong Khai where I live), so I have shelved that idea and I am back to plan (A) a trip to Lao.

Thanks for all your help, please keep up the good work.
