Hi Folks,

Two photos below.

One taken on 19-SEP-2004

and the second photo taken just a few meters up river in Kanchanaburi opposite the Felix Hotel on 14-APR-2010

Notice the similar cloud formation and that strip.

Photos taken at appox. North West.

Your thoughts please as to why that strip and cloud are near the same.

two very cool photos as usual for your skills Kan Win

As to the strip I cannot imagine almost a long shadow.

As to the cloud I imagine a heat source below like a rocky area?

Which creates thermals & the cloud in the same area.

As to why the cloud is so similar is just plain freaky :D

Like a profile of a face ;)

The main cloud is Cumulonimbus, a typical thunder cloud, towering into the sky

often to as much as 30,000 feet. I am not sure about the streaks.

I do agree with flying:

that it is a micro-climate effect caused by some local phenomenon.

Where I live, between Sri Racha and Laem Chabang, there can be quite different rain

patterns in just a few kilometres, probably due to the heat of the oil refinery at LC.
